St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham believes that the depth his squad has at its disposal ahead of the coming season should stand the club in great stead in 2016.
The Saints have added Theo Fages, Dominique Peyroux, Jack Owens and Lama Tasi to their squad after falling short in 2015, Cunningham’s first season in charge as head coach.
And Cunningham thinks that extra strength in depth could be a positive for the Saints this year – but concedes that it will be a tough league with every side strengthening.
“We’d like to think we could do a bit better this year, but every team thinks the same thing,” he said. “Everybody has recruited really well, it’s a bit of a level playing field.
“We’re not a bad team and we’ve recruited pretty well. We’ve a pretty thick squad and I’d like to think that depth will help us out this year.
“We made two semi-finals last year and were probably a 40-20 off making a Grand Final so the boys can take a lot of belief out of that.”
