Cup has lifted everyone, admits Albert Kelly

Hull KR half-back Albert Kelly says that the change in competition to the Challenge Cup has given the whole squad a lift ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Warrington.

The Robins endured an inconsistent first 23 rounds of the season to finish in the bottom four ahead of the Super 8s, but they are just one win away from Wembley and a return to the Challenge Cup Final.

And Kelly says that everyone has stepped things up a notch this week, and they’re not allowing themselves to think of Wembley yet.

“The boys are buzzing. It’s not Super League, it’s the Challenge Cup, and that lifts everybody a bit inside. We’ve seen it the way we’ve trained this week, everybody has a bit more confidence and a bit more energy about them,” he said.

“We know what it means to everybody and all the talk is about getting to Wembley but we’ve got a big challenge in front of us this week.

“Warrington are a good outfit, they’re very powerful up front and they have good strike weapons out the back so we will have to match them and more.”
