New Leeds Rhinos signing Keith Galloway and Adam Cuthbertson have been handed the leading front-row squad numbers for the 2016 season.
The two Aussies take the numbers 8 and 10 from retired stalwarts Kylie Leuluai and Jamie Peacock respectively, inevitably leaving both with big shoes to fill.
Cuthbertson is only the fourth player to wear the number ten shirt in the Super League era. He follows Mike Forshaw (1996), Barrie McDermott (1997-2005) and Jamie Peacock (2006-2015).
Galloway is a new recruit at the Rhinos after joining from NRL side Wests Tigers on a three-year deal.
“It is a huge honour and privilege to be awarded the ten shirt after the legend that is Jamie Peacock,” said Cuthbertson.
“Last season was incredible for me in my first year at the club and I am so excited about the potential for this group of players next season. We have recruited well with Anthony Mullally, Jordan Baldwinson and Keith Galloway all coming in to strengthen our pack and Beau Falloon arriving from the Gold Coast. On top of that we have got some great youngsters who will help drive us on.”
And Cuthbertson’s predecessor in the number 10 shirt, Jamie Peacock MBE, has offered a ringing endorsement for Cuthbertson on Twitter:
Very pleased @leedsrhinos no 10 has gone 2 @cuthbertson85 The right man 2 take it forward. He just needs to learn 2 offload like I used to..
