Dewsbury Rams boss makes Midlands Hurricanes spending claim

THE challenge facing Dewsbury Rams in making an immediate return to the Championship was evident in their recent 46-12 defeat away at Midlands Hurricanes.

Coach Paul March claimed after the game that Midlands were spending around four times as much as his side in a competitive tussle for the top four and entry to the Super 8s battle for promotion.

The Rams had longer to mull over that result too, with the week off just gone, ahead of their game against Newcastle Thunder on Good Friday.

March told the Dewsbury Reporter: “I was disappointed. We have set some standards and we fell below them. It was a tough one to take. We got what we deserved against a good Midlands side.

“They have spent nearly four times as much as we have so they are going to be up there. They have got a very good pack.

“Normally in Rugby League you get a defeat like that and you’re back on it the week after and putting things right.

“We have five sessions leading up to the Newcastle game to make sure we are all fit, well and raring to go.

“They will get a bit of time off but they will be working hard to make sure we don’t fall below par again.”
