DONCASTER coach Richard Horne believes Edene Gebbie and Isaac Misky are growing into the campaign.
Papua New Guinea international Gebbie was a close-season recruit from Whitehaven, having previously played for Townsville Blackhawks in the Queensland Cup.
He scored a hat-trick of tries as the Dons fell narrowly short at home to Oldham in round nine, losing 30-26, then registered again in Sunday’s win at Halifax.
Meanwhile Misky grabbed his first for the club, in his sixth outing, against Oldham.
The Kiwi hooker represented New Zealand Universities while a student in Otago and topped 70 appearances for St Gaudens in France before moving to the UK.
“Edene is a quality player who will thrive on good service, and we need to get him into the game more,” said Horne.
“And I thought it was Isaac’s best performance for us yet. He looked lively and showed some nice deception around the ruck, and it was great to see him get a try.”
Misky said: “I’ve had an injury since being here, but I’m settling well and enjoying the warmer weather.
“I’m getting more comfortable with the pace of the game, and getting more used to our combinations.
“It was good to get the try, although the other boys did the work, but disappointing to lose that match.
“We worked really hard to get back into it, and in the end I thought we were a bit unlucky not to snag a win against one of the best teams in the competition.
“We made a few too many errors, and we’ll work on improving and push forward.”
