Early Leigh Leopards injury news with tricky week in store for Adrian Lam

ADRIAN LAM wants “a fit team” for Leigh Leopards’ Challenge Cup semi-final as he prepares to make calls on a host of injured players.

Leigh are in fine form ahead of Sunday’s showdown in St Helens with Warrington Wolves for a place at Wembley, recording five wins in a row in all competitions despite a growing injury list in recent weeks.

Head coach Lam made selection calls for their Magic Weekend win over Catalans Dragons as late as the warm-up, but wants to avoid that kind of uncertainty where possible in a “massive week” for the club.

He said in Newcastle: “Davy Armstrong is 50/50. Umyla Hanley is probably 60/40 to play.

“Keanan Brand is 50/50. Frankie Halton is 50/50. Aaron Pene is probably not likely. Alec Tuitavake is 50/50. Jack Hughes is 50/50.

“I might have to (make late calls) on one or two of them but I think I want to go into the game with a fit team as opposed to five or six 50/50s.

“It’s a massive game for our club. We were successful two years ago and we want to be in a position to have the opportunity to travel down to Wembley.

“We play a strong team who have their own niggles, but we won’t worry too much about them because we’ve got our own but it’ll be an incredible game.”
