Eloi Pelissier turns down English interest

Sought-after Catalan Dragons hooker Eloi Pelissier has signed a two-year contract extension with the French club.

The 22-year-old was said to be a target of both Hull clubs, Salford Red Devils and Castleford Tigers but has decided to pledge his future to the Perpignan outfit.

He said: “I am proud and happy to extend [my contract with] the Dragons. I was born here, I feel good about this club and I am relieved to have made that decision. I studied all the offers that I received and the discussions I have had with Laurent Frayssinous [coach] and Bernard Guasch [president] and helped me to make that choice.

“It was important for me to know that I had the confidence of staff and the club and I am now 100 per cent focused on the end of the season with the Dragons.”

Coach Frayssinous added: “I am proud to see Eloi extend [his contract with] the Dragons. This is a player who grew up here, who was formed at the club, who embodies the values and it was important that it remains to Perpignan.

“He seized the opportunity that was offered to him this year with the injury to Ian Henderson and he proved that he could become one of the Super League players in his position.”
