Ex-Warrington Wolves star Matty Nicholson suffers horror double injury

FORMER Warrington Wolves forward Matty Nicholson is facing a long spell on the sidelines as he undergoes surgery on a syndesmosis injury and fractured fibula.

Scans confirmed the worst after he was taken from the field during Canberra Raiders’ surprising loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs after being up 20 points at half-time.

The Raiders confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Nicholson will undergo surgery and will then be subject to a 12-week recovery period.

It’s a huge blow for Nicholson, who has started the 2025 NRL campaign like a house on fire. The second-rower has become one of the southern hemisphere’s most potent attacking weapons in the opening ten rounds following his move from Warrington on a long-term deal.
