Featherstone Rovers may have to be forced into switching their opening league game of the season away from their Big Fellas Stadium home on February 15.
Rovers open their Championship campaign against West Yorkshire rivals Hunslet Hawks on February 15, but after problems with the pitch forced them into cancelling a pre-season game against Salford Red Devils recently, the club may now have to switch their first league match, too.
Rovers chief executive Pat Cluskey admits that whilst it is not certain the game will have to be switched, they will have to keep checking the pitch to ensure it is suitable to be played on.
“We’ll have another look and every Wednesday over the next three weeks,” Cluskey said.
“If we can’t stage the game on February 15 we will look at seeing if we can stage the game at Hunslet, depending on their availability. We may perhaps even look at an alternative venue for that game, but if that is the case we are focusing on March 1 for our home game against Bradford. We want to make sure the pitch is ready for then.”
