Feki injury worry for Tigers

Sosaia Feki is a major doubt for Castleford’s Super League opener with Toronto.

League Express understands the winger, a new signing from Cronulla Sharks, has suffered a calf injury over the weekend, with Castleford waiting to learn the extent of his injury.

However, it appears that his place in the Tigers’ squad for Sunday’s clash with the Wolfpack is in serious jeopardy, and he looks likely to join several others on the sidelines as the injuries begin to rack up at Castleford before the season has even started.

Mike McMeeken and Matt Cook are set to miss out, while Alex Foster and Junior Moors continue to recover from injury.

Meanwhile, Jesse Sene-Lefao is set for an extended spell on the sidelines due to a nasty dead leg.

The forward limped off during the club’s pre-season defeat to Toronto and has been ruled out of the club’s Super League opener with the Wolfpack.

Castleford are yet to learn the true extent of the injury as the swelling on his leg has yet to die down.

“We don’t really know the full extent until the swelling goes down but as of Thursday that still wasn’t happening. It’s a significant injury,” said Tigers coach Daryl Powell.

“Mike McMeeken got a bad one last year. It was a dead leg but a tear in his quad as a result of the impact. People think they’re an easy injury to get over but they can be more complicated than that and this one we’re not really sure of.

“You have to allow the swelling to go down first, but that hasn’t happened yet. We’ll have to wait and see on that one.”
