Featherstone Rovers have announced that former player Iain Morrison has joined the club’s backroom staff.
Morrison was previously at the club in 2010 and 2011 and made 28 appearances scoring three tries after signing from Widnes Vikings. In his playing career, Morrison also appeared for London Broncos, Huddersfield Giants, Hull KR, Halifax RLFC, Oxford and York.
“First of all I’d like to thank Andy Hay and Mark Campbell for bringing me back to the club,” Morrison said.
“It’s a place where I enjoyed myself and it will be good to work again with Danny Evans and Craig Bower who were on the staff when I was here previously as a player. Gareth Whittaker has done a good job with the Centre of Excellence and I’m looking forward to working in this fantastic facility.
“The facilities at the club have improved dramatically since my playing days here and I can honestly say that the investment the club has made in the Centre of Excellence has resulted in probably the best facility in the country for rugby league players.”
Rovers boss Andy Hay said: “I would like to welcome Iain back to Rovers. I think he will be a good fit within our coaching structure and he has a good knowledge and understanding of getting players ready to play rugby league.
“I’m looking forward to working with him and I know he is excited to be back here and getting his teeth into his new role. I would also like to thank Gaz Whittaker for everything he has done since I’ve been at Featherstone, he has put some very good systems in place and I wish him well for the future.”
