  1. He came with a big reputation but was at the end of his career during the two season he played for us 81/82  and 82/83.  He did a lot of the dirty and unseen work that was in the game back then but he did sometimes look comically slow when compared to the up and coming players from Gartland's famous colts side  that were coming through at the time.

Then again nearly all the forwards of the time  looked slow when compared to the young rampaging back row of  Goodway and Worrall and  I'm sure he helped develop them into the world class talents they became....... thanks B Hogan and RIP.

  2. That's a good article... thanks Rats.  Green Vigo (great name!) ,  although his time at Oldham was short he really was one of the best wingers I've seen play for us. He was near the end of his career and I remember him best for the inside runs mentioned in the article when he would run off his wing and angle back to score under the posts, running angles like that was different then.  Also the crash tackles ,when he would fly in hard off his wing and crease the opposition backs, he was an entertaining player !

Sounds like he spent a bit too much time on the pop which explains his sudden departure but good to read he got over that and settled down.

I get so exasperated with these recurring whiney comments. We all know we're not where we want to be. Do you honestly think that whinging and moaning and sniping and "let's look at companies House" is really going to change things? Do you really think that CH is looking at this forum and thinking "you know what they are right, I'm going to jack it in and hand it over to them because they know the facts!!!!?". No! We are where we are. I've pointed out ad nauseum this season was a dead rubber. Behind the scenes is what's happening. We have a 15 year lease on a training ground. A ladies team is well into its formation The noises from Frank Rothwell are positive vis a vis  boundary park. As they say the only way is up! Come Oldham come on Oldham!

Of course CH doesn't look at this forum and this vent won't matter a jot! 😀   , but this is a place where we can share our frustrations and concerns over a twenty year decline of professional rugby in Oldham and the constant throughout this period has been the owner.  Do you think if the current club had folded over that period and we'd gone into liquidation again,  we could be in any worse state than we currently are ? I would have preferred for that to happen and give another individual or group of people a go than endure what we've experienced.   We all know that the owner has no money to invest into the club but he has also failed to attract any meaningful investment. I'm sure CH loves Oldham Rugby League and his dedication and commitment is admirable and can't be questioned, but that doesn't mean he is the right person to be the steward of professional rugby league in Oldham.

  4. From what Frank Rothwell said in the MEN a couple of days ago I'd say it could be we are at BP next season

They are looking to maximise the revenue the stadium can generate and based on the article I'd be surprised if discussions have not taken place already.

some good news ch as submitted the 2021 accounts on time.

but just think ch as got a ring side view out of his front window

watching all the latics fans buying their season tickets

I'm a bit confused about the rumour we'll be back playing at BP next year,  if it is true ? then it must have been a decision made before the time of the sale to Frank Rothwell and so that would mean Frank and CH have been in discussions ?

  6. With hardly any central funding we can see that the Board don't have any money , and their isolationist approach over the past 25 years  means they have lost  the majority of the fanbase and any potential investors. We now have a  desperate and belated reach out to the fans supporters groups ,ex players and council , this should of happened decades ago ?!!

CH won't sell at a reasonable price which is next to zero so we've been stuck for years in this slow decline to the bottom.

Still  ......  could be worse ?😀
