  1. After winning the toss, why did Stuart dickens choose to kick off, giving Halifax the first opportunity for a drop kick, Do you think he didnt know it was the golden point straight away?.

To be fair, in previous encounters this season, Makali Aizue and Frank Watene have been totally ineffectual in the last quarter of the game as they tired and Halifax have had difficulty clearing their own half to the end of each game. In these circumstances Rovers would usually have been recieving the ball with good ground to be made out of their own half.

Today Aizue and Frank obviously benefited more than most from the extended rest at half time and were immense in that last few minutes and on into extra time. It's easy to be wise after the event but on previous experience I think Stuart made the right choice.

  2. Got to say stayed on to support Fev and they were playing some great stuff, superb support can't have been many left at home BUT then the incident happened. Yes the Fax supporters were waving flags and gesturing but I could not believe it as a large number of your fans seemed to think it was an open invite to run on the pitch and try to assault the Fax fans, good job there were just about enough stewards and police to stop it breaking out wholesale, at thsi point I and a few other Knights fans who were supporting Fev left.

I f I wnat to see pitch battles and crwod violence I owudl go and be a football fan .

This type of behaviour has no place in Rugby League especially when live on Sky with potentially plenty of non-RL viewers watching our great game. If the individuals can be identified on TV then they should be banned sine die from all RL grounds.

Too much ale and plenty of you obviously can't handle it.

I was standing on the half way line looking down on the 'incidents'. An incredibly small minority reacted to the taunting they received, especially from the young Halifax 'fan' with the painted face who was constantly giving the "come on over here' gestures. I would totally agree that there is no room for 'pitched battles' in Rugby league but to react as you have and produce a posting like this, I feel, is totally over the top and strikes me as an easy way of scoring points in some way over another team.

  3. Could any one tell me which junction i exit m62 to get to hj tommorrow .thanks in advance.cheers steve

    Junction 9 M62

    Ist Exit A49

Follow your nose ( straight through one or two roundabouts)

  4. Lets get the hankies out before the game is even played, as i said last week it would impossible for Haven to play a team, who havent played for the First Team this year, as we have used 43 players in the First Team Squad. The team that played last week only include M Jackson who has played regular First Team, but was deemed UNWANTED by our coach/ex coach. So does that exclude the lad from playing full stop. I think you cannot play anyone who had made over 6 First Team appearances.

The Reserves this year have been the only PLUS in our season, and only to lose 2 games all season, is fantastic. Those were both games when they were short of a full compliment of 17 players. ( No Subs in one game, and 2 in the other).

My only hope is we get a better Ref, because the one at Haven 2 weeks ago was very poor for both teams.

    HW

No problem with that. Glad you've had something to cheer about in a difficult season.

I was just really p@ssed of to see one of our lads literally having a fit on the floor and Jackson (who'd put him there with his elbow) just standing having a joke with the rest of the team. Agree about the ref though. We had him away at Widnes last year and he was so arrogant it stretched the principle of respect to the absolute limit.

    Good luck next year.

  5. Thats a great result are they now in the final?

    Yes.

A good game today between a couple of young teams. But for a kind bounce of the ball just before and just after half time I think the score could have been a lot closer.

What a difference with last week when the bully boys were out at Whitehaven.

  6. Pitch invasion was fantastic at the end :D

Looked good but I felt a little for the players. Stuart finally managed to get to Jamie Field and lift him to his shoulders but put him down because he was surrounded. A pity that he and the other players lost the opportunity to go round and receive the applause of all the fans at the game. Two sides I suppose.

  7. I noticed him in second half when it looked like he was going to blow the whistle for a forward pass by Barrow, then appeared to change his mind allowing them to score under sticks. But otherwise no grumbles.

Thought Zak's second try was a bit 'iffy' too but thought Halloran had a good game. Yes, both teams tried to make the game flow and give him little to do, but how many refs do you see that in a game like this, look for problems so that they can still blow up all the time.

  8. All 2010 season tickets will be collected at the gate when presented for admission to the ground on sunday.

The season tickets will then be upgraded for the 2011 season and holders contacted when they are ready for collection ensuring a convenient turnround for all current ticket holders.

    Featherstone Rovers RLFC.

Does the Reserve play off system allow for us possibly having a home tie after the Whitehaven game. If so won't members need their cards for this.

  9. Well done to The Hawks on gaining automatic promotion.

I don't know whose signed for next year but I look foward to seeing a selection of Steve Dooler, Tommy Haughey, Waine Pryce, Stuart Kain, James Houston, Wayne McHugh, Nathan Larvin, Richard Chapman and Neil Lowe, playing in another Local Derby next year.

  10. no need for thanks paul, we all look after one another, and ask your rob how many were stood round him having a wee before he came over

totally agree with you about the stewards, acted like gentlemen and a credit to their club

Don't know what happened at all but I do know that two of the Batley stewards were applauding the Fev fans after the game. Good to see.

  11. An excellent season. Well done everyone connected with the club.

Once the string of penalties stopped, so did Batley. I thought last twenty up the slope we were outstanding, although I must admit I thought Stuart's try was double movement.

From where I stood behind the sticks Stuart did move his arm forward but I also thought that the tackler had fallen off the tackle first and therefore Stu could do what he wanted.

  12. if a player is wasted on the wing bu still picks up 8 tries in a season then clearly we should sack DP and hand the rains over to yourself..... lol

Many of the best half backs and loose forwards in the game have started their professional careers on the wing and then moved inside as they gain experience. Zak has a good turn of pace and good hands under the high ball to the corner and won't suffer at all from an apprenticeship on the wing.

  13. and one of em is from ponte!! ( keale carlisle )......at least he can share the fuel with jamie....thats if you can get him out of winstons :D :D :D

At least it might mean that in the last league game of the season Keale can achieve his lifetime ambition and run out onto PO Road with the Rovers first team. :D

  14. Ian was my lads fav player when he was at Fev. Did you see the size/build of him too?? He'll be 40-42ish now and still looks as fit as a lop!

I don't know Ian but have spoken with him a few times. A real nice lad. Comes across as quiet really.

I remember a game when we gave Fax a trashing circa 91ish. I can't remember the scorer but he was treated to some flopping and given a dinger by a fax player while laying on the ground. Smalesy ran in with his arms open as if the congratulate the scorer but just made sure that as he close his arms on approaching the scorer he gave the Fax aggressor a right deaf un back!!! Classic smalesy! He scored some corkers for Fev did the lad!

I remember when Cliff played for the Academy and they trained with the first team, he used to come home and say the hardest player to tackle was Ian. He said he was immense as he ran at you.

  15. Don't mind owd Gaz! Doesnt always get it bang on but gets it right most of the time - lets the game go a little when the players have settled down. He's been anonymous at some games i've seen him ref which is how you want it!

So long as he's not blonde and from dews - owt else is a bonus!:rolleyes:

Best of the bunch for me.

Surprised at you Robin hair colour shouldn't matter at all, unless of course it is a certain Ronnie. :D

John Holdsworth Match Commisioner for second game on the trot. Now he was a good ref.

  16. Interesting that at the start of his comments a major factor was the numbers of games in the preceding two weeks, yet at the end the thought of a quick turn round before Thursday's game doesn't concern him.

Can't wait 'til we win a game this season because we are the better team.
