  1. You've not been Cold Shouldered again....I understand Deep Heat could help you out but wash your hands before you go to the toilet or you may have a rosy glow!!!!

Lets just say some of the natives opinions on what is not a high tackle was certainly, ermmm, interesting.

Despite that us good houmoured eagles fans had some interesting craic with the natives. The comment of "How can you afford these players? You havent even got your own ground!" from an Oldham fan was probably the winner.

Credit must go to all the hardy eagles travellers who went for turning up in tempratures similar to those experienced by Michael Palin at the end of Pole to Pole.

Cold Shoulder, me? Nahhhhh. Cold everything else, Yes.

  2. I agree with ESO on the whole, not the best performance by any stretch but it's in the win column and thats the big thing. We were our own worst enemies by trying to be too clever with the ball in hand. I hope no one shows Tubby the stats as he'll probably have a coronary. Credit to Oldham who never took a backward step and fully expoited our errors.

Now if you will excuse me peeps, before bed im going to get my old science book out and check just where on the anatomy the shoulder really is....,,

  3. The Ground Safety Officer has the ultimate control to call the game on or off on grounds of safety - if the ground (ie. the stadium) and land around it is safe to hold the pitch and there is no danger presented to the team travelling, then the game is on.

It might be unfortunate that certain spectators cannot get to the game because where they live the weather is bad, but the Ground Safety Officer cannot attend every potential away fans' stret to make a judgement call - they can only go on the information available.

Ie. if the main roads are gritted, the motorways are running freely and the car parks, stands, technical areas and public areas of the stadium are safe, then the game (subject to the usual controls over playing surface safety) would be deemed to go ahead by the GSO.

    I'll get the train then.

  4. Some decent opinions there as well as the normal garbage. I'm not sure where the "not getting over rob leaving" comment sprang from, it not his leaving that bothered us (I think were a better squad now), it was the manner he did it.

It's good to see us getting a bit of credit now, last year when we did them at The Shay they spat the dummy out as bad as I've ever seen.

On a personal note, a bit thank you to the whole (except one) of block six for their generous applause. I may have made history at don valley as the first match official not to be booed off.

  5. From my strictly neutral (cough) point of view i thought it was a very good game given the conditions. There was very little grip on the pitch. It wasnt a dirty game, yes the ref can blow for minor things but if you do that every time the game would be so slow it would be like a union match. Im not sure what all the offside shouting was about, i didnt see that many. Markers not square was the one that was happening most frequent.

Excellent performance by the Eagles and with Barnett, Menzie and hopefully Aaron still to come incompetiton for places is going to be excellent which can only be good. I would like to see a few changes to the team for the Oldham match to keep people fresh.

  6. Is the lift still good for a Monday night match? Also, if it is confirmed as next Monday, Neil won't be going, as he can't get time off work, but I have a stand in. The bloke who was going to Featherstone but had to work at short notice is interested, so you still have one space left.:lol:

Yes lift is still on, youll need to meet me from work though as im not sure what time i finish yet. Ill let you know.
