Is Eastmond likely to leave? Is there a rumour behind this mate? Where too, oz assumably?
The dark side?

I haven't been to York since they played at Clarence Street. In fact I don't think I've been there since we played them in the Yorkshire Cup and Paul Lyman scored an individual long distance try.
-
I remember reading on here oh two years ago that Pryce was on his way back to Bradford and Lockyer would replace him at Saints. Hasn't happened yet.

golden point all the way. get it over with on the day. i used to love the idea of replays purely because i like watching sport, but the occasion is never the same.
I went to the 1982 CC replay between Hull and Widnes, it was a great night.

No, it's not a weird way, it's the rules. First team to go a point in front in extra times wins. Fax got into a position (the "territory") to be able to score the winning point and they did. Fev could have taken a short kick off and fought for possession of the ball and six tackles to score but they chose to kick it long and ultimately lost. There are four ways to score (OK, only three would count in golden point) and Fax chose the easiest option. Fev would have done the same if they'd had the chance.
RL could always have ten minutes each way and then golden point but where do you stop?
Fev won the toss and chose to kick!

Martin Pearson. Pace of the mark, reliable goal kicker. Looked like he'd be the next GB no 6 in 1995.
-
The rules are the same for both sides. Unfortunately Fev let the lead slip and Halifax took advantage. Live with it!
We know all that. But a 10 minute period of play followed by perhaps the golden point would have been more satisfactory. TBH 'Fax were coming so strong in the last twenty I reckon they'd ahve won anyway. But it would have seemed more complete somehow.
-
I was disappointed that Fev lost. But it was the way they lost that left me feeling a bit empty. It was a great game, and Fev were never behind until they lost the game. Surely another way can be found. In fact why not a replay in future - there are no further fixtures, so where's the problem? Alternatively, a suggestion from the Fev site, 10 minutes for a golden try, and then the golden point.

Information. According to Radio Manchester this morning there's a long running problem with the Meto link on the Eccles line.
-
He pinged us once for offside, he didn't ping them at all for offside - at one PTB they were at least three metres in front of him and TBF most of the game we stayed onside. I'm not keen on Robert Hicks. It's the 50/50's that decide tight games. I thought most of those on Sunday went 'Fax's way.
-
Taking into account,"new grounds", I think that Donny takes some beating. Dont know why the finals were not played there, or did they expect Widnes making it through?.
I hadn't been to the HJ until Sunday, and I haven't been to Widnes. Of the "new" grounds I have been to my least favourite is Wigan. I'm not exactly svelt (I stood at the HJ, I prefer to stand) but if the seats at Warrington were small I bet the seats at Wigan are smaller, and your legs are jammed against the seat in front - like they are at Elland Road for that matter - another ground I don't like. The best "new" ground I've been on is the KC.

10 mins golden try then if no outcome another 10 golde point
this to me would be fairer as its much more difficult to obviously score a try and would be more of a spectacle imo. Its usually ended too quickly and although great for us it seems daft way to end a great game in the 80 mins.
Can't argue with that.
-
I prefer to go for the golden point when we're 18 pts in front
I know it's hindsight, but if we'd put over the one pointer, we'd still have been in the lead when the hooter went.
I think the reasoning is that you put over the one pointer, they kick off long and you're under pressure in your 20 immediately. With 20/20 hindsight the drop goal would have won us the game, but who knows?
-
I agree. Surely it makes commercial sense as well as being the fairest way to decide the "championship".
If the game was replayed at Headingley, Odsal or Huddersfield you would surely get enough paying spectators to make a decent profit. IMO there are insufficient fixtures in the season anyway, so an extra game would be a bonus to the fans. There are no more games left so there wouldn't be a fixture clash or issues with tired players having to contest any further games. I remember going to the Hull - Widnes Challenge Cup Final replay at Elland Road in 1982 as a neutral and thought it was a great success.
The golden point is probably Sky's idea, because drama like this makes great television, even though the most important game of the year could end up being decided by the toss of a coin!
I think the golden point was an anti climax after a great game. Plus of course we were never behind until it was too late to do anything about it. Having said that, we were out on our feet and if we'd played an additional 10 mintues each way I reckon we'd still have lost. Unless of course the two big Fax forwards who were making all the inroads were also out on their feet. If ifs and ands etc.
-
I think our ground compares favourably with the HJ. I was pretty disappointed. I'd never been before and it looks like a slum in the making to me. The PA was pathetic. TBH apart from P O Road there isn't a ground I've been on compares to Headingley - especially for representative games. I'm going to OT on Saturday and much as it pains me to say it Theatre of Dreams is an apt description - I write as somone who hasn't much time for Man U.
-
Yep, pretty poor, I wonder if the confusion was due to it being an RFL staged event and there being different announcers etc. although either way, there should bee set processes in place.
Interestingly the Warrington Guardian has stated that the fire was started intentionally:

I didn't know positive pressure were playing - but it's a good job their fans were there by the sound of it

I'm a bit split on that, as tbh, there were plenty of drunken idiots at Wembley for a 2.30pm kick off!
TBH I like a drink as much as the next bloke. But I don't often drink before I watch Rugby - although I have been known to imbibe in the Moon Under Water before the GF just to be sociable with other forum members. But normally I don't drink before I watch Rugby because if I've had a drink I've a job sorting out what's going on on the field and it spoils the game for me.
I saw plenty of fans of both clubs the worse for wear en route to the ground. After the pitch invasion and the threat of confrontation I'd have thought the prudent thing to do would have been to close the bars, but there was still plenty of ale available.
Many people on here will take the line of least resistance and blame Fev but I was at Headingley three years ago and watched Fev beat Oldham, and then Cas beat Widnes. Fev and Cas fans in the same ground with drink available sounds like a recipe for trouble - but I never saw any. So what was different this time? Perhaps it was the inaudible PA system? Or contradictary announcments. All I know is that when the 'Fax came onto the pitch, no one in the South stand knew why they were coming onto the pitch and assumed they wanted either to get the game stopped because 'Fax were losing, or they wanted to cause trouble.
-
Heard Mick Potter come out with it again tonight.
"As long as you beat Wigan (insert some other rival) we don't care if you lose every other game"
Utter *******'*
In 1989 Fev beat Cas first game, and again in the Yorkshire Cup. The got to the YC final but didn't win another league game before Christmas, but the Fev fans were fairly content.
-
Talking to two Fev fans at work today who said that in the stand they were in you couldn't hear the P.A system clearly and that thought that the Fax fans were invading the pitch.
You couldn't hear the PA system. You couldn't hear throughout the entire match. The Halifax fans came on just after Fev had scored, and whether they like it or not those facing the south stand were making threatening gestures.
-
Both sets of fans had a share of idiots yesterday, we got some abuse at the service station on the way home luckily I was sober so delt with it in a polite and friendly manner. Why do these people call themselves RL supporters we don't need them, I agree that the drink is a big problem but it was on sale in the ground so some people will have been at it all day.
The sooner major Rugby League games can go back to sensible kick off times the better. For me 3-00pm is the time major games should kick off. the weird and wonderful kickoff times are all to suit Mr Murdoch's soccer schedules.

Key phrase there is "authority area of Cheshire". All that these areas represent are areas of local government or administration. They are not counties in the traditional sense.
Check this website out: Friends of Real Lancashire
But administrative areas is exactly what counties are. If we're going to start claiming, then we (the West Riding of Yorkshire) will have Saddleworth, the Trough of Bowland and Sedberg back for starters.
-
Police forces are not based on county boundaries. For example in the midlands West Mercia police force covers 3 counties. I believe there is still a Humberside police even though Humberside ceased to exist a long time ago.
Warrington is a large town, borough and unitary authority area of Cheshire, England
-
I don't know whether it was the right decision or the wrong decision. I do know that we were never behind the whole game until it was too late to do anything about it, which in retrospect seems a bit unfair. Having said that, Fax looked the stronger team in the last 20 minutes of normal time. I'm terribly disappointed. I woke up this morning wondering why I felt miserable (even more miserable than ususal
) and then I remembered why.
-
Not true. Warrington is a unitary authority which is split roughly in half by the river Mersey in terms of the old county boundaries. The town centre and anything north is technically in Lancashire and anything to the south of the Mersey is in Cheshire.
If it's not in Cheshire why were the Cheshire police at the HJ today then?

Paul Newlove was a superb centre both at club and international level. The try he scored in the opening test of the 1990 tour is an example of his power. The tries he scored against NZ the year before were examples of his pace. He made Owen Simpson look like Offiah, after he left Fev Owen was never the same player. I believe he did the same for Anthony Sullivan at Saints. In the 1992 Melbourne test he had a brilliant game at the highest level. Put it this way, I wish he was available for both Fev and England today.
