  1. clearly having thaught about this for all of 5 minutes you know better than sombody who has researched the subject for a year.

I did O Level physics and have the commonsense to know that if a person was having to undergo the impact of 15-20 fifty mph car crashes 25-30 times per season then the game would be going through players faster than they could replace them.

What's your opinion or are you one of these people who would stick his hand into the fire if an "expert" told him it was the right thing to do?

  2. http://www.therhinos.co.uk/news/14782.php

I knew they were hard but like a car hitting you at 50mph is a bit too much for my liking!

Toughest team sport in the world.

    This is complete twaddle.

The fastest human being on the planet can only manage to attain about 23 mph when running flat out so even if you had two Usain Bolts colliding at full pelt, the maximum impact velocity would be 46mph at the most. Add to this the fact that most RL players do not weigh as much as cars then Baron's conclusions cannot be based upon scientific facts. Not sure how multiple-man tackles will factor in to all this though??

  3. Leeds looked knackered at the end of today's final and I think that their whole season has been geared to winning the cup at the expense of everything else. As the injuries to key players mount up, next week's trip to Hull is beginning to look like a bridge too far for Hetherington's battered troops.

A victory for Hull and a win for Huddy in France and Leeds finish 6th, I reckon.

Fingers crossed for Huddy and Hull.

    What does anybody else reckon??

  4. If you think about it, it's all Wigan's fault really... Lenegan this time, not uncle Mo. :D

I was talking to someone yesterday about this and how long it would take for Wigan to be blamed for all Quins' ills - even sooner than I thought by the sound of things - like they say there's many-a-true word been spoken in jest.

  5. This is the 2nd consecutive game i've seen saints involved in that has been absolutely ruined by their petulance, bad language and constant moaning. How keiron cunningham stayed on the field after clearly telling Richard silverwood to fluck off is something the RFL really need to address. If silverwoood is not strong enough to control the players he should be relieved of his position, for example Silverwood to James Graham,

"You're not getting back ten yards because you're spending too much time arguing with me"

Who's fault is that Richard? You're letting him do it you mug. As for Wellens running in and giving Silverwood a mouthful for claiming he was obstructed in trying to make a tackle when he was about ten yards off the play........grow up you silly old twit, you're just too slow these days. The game is degenerating towards football levels in the tantrum stakes and it's time for the RFL to act, it's getting beyond a joke.

Saints are abviously trying to emulate the triple Superleague Champions who have got away with nonsense like this for season after season without punishment.

Meanwhile, the most disciplined and respectful side in the league continues to get the shaft from the RFL and its officials.

  6. I miss Central Park and Wilderspool and Thrum Hall and the old Naughton Park and The Watersheddings and I will miss Knowlesly Road too. Crappy things can be great in their own way and these new grounds definitely lack the atmosphere of the old places no matter how bad they were.

  7. Take your Wigan glasses off for a second please. I am not a Widnes fan BTW and never have been.

Did I say they were the best or most consistent? Widnes were their own worst enemies at times during 87-91 - especially in the Challenge Cup. Saying that, the brand of rugby they played was the most exciting I have ever seen by a British side during the time I have watched the game.

Wigan's record is unbelievable and should be applauded. The team consisted of legends of the game. However, that Widnes team with the pure speed and off-loading game (especially the forwards) was just so exciting to watch.

It is you that needs glasses, either that or the removal of that chip on your shoulder.

I never said, or even thought that you were a Widnes fan but like many in here when a Wigan fan points to facts in order to back up a point of view he is automatically characterised as being in some way myopic.

You said that it could be argued that the Widnes side that were World Club Champions in 1989 were the most skillful to ever grace these shores, I pointed to the evidence of the following six seasons to suggest that you may be wrong. Had Leeds or Saints or anyone else done the same in those years then the evidence would still stand up. Personally I think the 1994 & 2000 Australians plus the 1992 Wigan side made the 1989 Widnes vintage look pedestrian.

  8. The problem isn't the final, which is still a great occasion and a win is still worth a great deal to clubs, players and speccies alike. The problem is the rest of the competition which has definitely lost a great deal in terms of drama and romance. Not sure what can be done about it though - it's just a sign of the times, when people turn out and spend money they expect a big occsasion and the cup rounds just don't fit the bill anymore.

  9. It could be argued that this Widnes side was the most skillful British team in the last 30 years. They still look a yard quicker than anything running around today and the offloading is fantastic.

Alternatively, it could be argued that you are talking nonsense.

Had that Widnes side done the double for the following six seasons then you may have been right but seeing as they didn't, actually you are quite wrong.
