Wigan do what Brighton could have done.
I'm assuming that Shrek of this parish is smiling *very* broadly.
Indeed I am, can't smile wide enough and expect it to be that way for sometime regardless of how the rest of the season pans out!

I know times have changed, but a there was a great 1/2 hour piece on Tuesday just gone on Radio 4 about Bill Shankly, apparently he was watching TV one night at home, stood up and informed his wife he was quitting in the morning and that was that!I can't see Ferguson retiring without a succession plan being in place though.

Er... as it was my first contact with them, and it wasn't that great a photo, I let them have it for free, next time I
mightwil charge themProblen with giving them stuff for free is you'll have a job now convincing them to pay and why should they you've set the precident. If your looking to start charging them at some point you'd be better off spending this season getting a portfolio together and then pitching for the gig next season with a rate attached.
If your just after seeing your stuff in print and your name at the bottom you might as well self publish, get together with a club, use there match reports, your pics, publish an e-book at the end of the season and split the profits with them.
Interesting about papers using photos. I have regularly sent pics to the local papers to promote the Tigers. I don't charge, but this is partly because I'm doing it to get the club in the press and to be honest like my pics being published. They sometimes remember to credit me.
Fair do's and in Bedford I'd imagine if you didn't then they probably wouldn't send anyone down to cover your matches so its good publicity for you as a club and your sponsors, were as in Wigan my view is if you want rugby shots send your own guy down or pay for mine!

Very good point - incidentally how much would you charge?
Depends on the paper, nobodies getting rich in my neck of the woods selling to the local daily paper, not now its readership is only a shade over 6k a day.
As a starter for 10 I'd refer back to here for anything on a recurring basis.

the actual prices "Tickets were available in four price categories – Category 1: €135, Cat 2: €100, Cat 3: €70, Cat 4: €45, Youth Package (1 child and 1 adult): €90 and Wheelchair: €45."
see http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/final/tickets/index.html
Roughly the same prices as the FA Cup Final.

Rugby fans would wait for the discounts.
Problem with us rugby fans is we don't know how good we've got it and can make even good things sound bad!
-
Queued up for FA Cup final tickets yesterday, priced at £45, £65, £85 and £115 with £10 off for concessions.
Some people queueing around me making some real sacrafices to be able to afford to go and genuinly concerned that as all the £45 section had sold out that if they couldn't get a £65 ticket they couldn't stretch to £85, which I'm sure if we don't sell our full allocation won't get a mention.

A real sickener at The DW today, the fat lady is in the wings warming up!

Premier League Football finances in the Guardian, some scary figures in amongst the detail!

Enough of this Premier League lark, its a travesty Formby won't be promoted to the North West Counties Premier on a technicality - hope the appeal goes there way! Two points clear at the top of Division 1 with two games in hand and reported to have the best bar in the North West Counties, I've still to visit, not a good day on the football front!

A group of Newcastle fans caused severe disruption to an amateur match when on their way to watch their side against Wigan Athletic. A lot of locals were deeply upset and offended.
Wigan Cosmos, poor stewarding/police work the away coaches arrive next to the pitches were the Sunday League teams arrive.
To be fair to Newcastle they've come good as a club, replacing damaged nets, the stolen match ball and there hosting Wigan Cosmos for a game against NUFC staff at St James Park once the season is over. Doesn't make right what happened, but at least Newcastle are making the effort.

It flies in the face of popular opinion, but I went to the game Saturday, took my 4 year old and every Millwall fan we came into contact with was good spirited, felt more like an RL event than a football match. I think the vast majority of both sets of fans were enjoying "the day".Not the best weekend as far as fans are concerned....
Shame the idiots stole the limelight, can't help but think for the vast majority in the Millwall end it was probably there first and last game of the season, unless there 32k there on Saturday have a rota for games at the Den!

Clear here in South Wigan, were are you?
There's a bit in Aspull, but its not sticking.

Reading manager now been sack
Must be gutted, talk about paying the price for overachieving last season.
-
Got to Wembley and slipped back into the relegation zone in the space of a few hours - love this time of the season!
-
A panoramic photo taken from the top of the BT tower, well worth 10 mins of anyones time having a poke around London!

Blummin -20 here in Lithuania, had a 30 minute walk from were I've been working to a hotel in -20, ordered a brandy and bowl of broth to "warm up" waitress scoffed that its a good job I'm not here when its cold!
Man up England!
-
Superb result - enjoy Wembley!

Roberto Martinez will be pleased. He's now got a 33% better chance of keeping Wigan up once again.
Not sure about that, if we can't beat the likes of Sunderland at our place we've no right to be staying up.

Southampton ... up against Blackburn in the final of Britain's Most Clueless Football Club Owners.
Simply unbelievable, Adkins has done nothing wrong, hope he lands a decent gig and can replicate the spell he had at Southampton.
Having seen him play many a time for Wigan, he's about the most unlikely lad you'd have picked out to make a success at it as a manager, every credit to him!

British people never cease to be amazed by snow do they.
Its the media that whip everyone into a frenzy, beats reporting real news!
Opened up a weather app this morning to have a look at tomorrows forcast, was slightly taken aback to see a forecast of -29 today and -25 tomorrow, before realising it had defaulted to the brother in laws town in Finland, I checked his timeline on facebook, no bloody mention of the weather of pannick buying, he's clearly not entering into the spirit of things!

Wigan Robin Park beat title favourites Bootle 2-1 in the North West Counties prem on Saturday in a cracking game, a league thats well worth a look for anyone fed up of paying 62 quid a ticket!

Picked up a Fuji X100 on Friday, this is one of the first shots I've taken with it - not sure I'm qualified to operate a "proper camera" yet, makes using a DSLR seem like a piece of cake, hope to enjoy the challenge though!

Already looking forward to next season, hope it throws up a midweek fixture away in Rome, followed by a Sunday fixture away at Yeovil!
