  1. Pigeon can be had from some butchers, Waitrose, or (frozen) from oriental supermarkets. Again, it must be kept moist, but is a much more interesting flavour than pheasant or partridge.

We made pigeon and rabbit stew at one scout camp, it was pleasant enough. Pigeon and rabbit roasted over an open fire on the other hand was not particularly pleasant, far too dried out and chewy.

In Spain last year I tried sheep brain, which to be honest didn't taste of an awful lot and the texture wasn't very appealing, the rest of the tapas was superb.

  2. My garden plants are at it again... Yesterday, two more roses flowered in my garden and the magnolia tree has started to bud. I think that they need to get the message that it's the second week of December, not the middle of March.

Our roses have been flowering almost continually for the last 16 months, we are down south, but we did get snow last year and still they soldiered on. We have a lovely display of red roses in our front garden at the moment.

Our ornamental fig tree has just started to bud, it too is very confused.

  3. it's 6 weeks until my second child comes into the world

Fun times ahead for you mate. All the best.

Our second is now almost six months old and we just started him on solid food a few days ago. He is just past the stage of looking as if we are trying to poison him every time we put food in his mouth. Now we just need to convince him not to talk with food in his mouth as it falls out.

  4. Last week I was told by my boss that she hoped to be able to give me some good news in a couple of days regarding promotions.

It's turns out the 'good' news is that I am not being promoted!!!

Somtimes I just wish the stupid cow would keep her trap shut rather than getting my hopes up.

Still, they did manage to fit in the 'keep up the hard work, and looking good for next time' speech.
