Horrendous performance from us think there was only Forber and Gillam that can come out of that with their heads held high. The touch judge on the popular side kept turning and grinning at the fans when things went against us, coincidentally the same one that caused issues with Barrow at Widnes. I understand that officiating is a tough job but I'm getting sick of games being ruined by officials when we pay good money to watch rugby.

The RFL needs to pick up on that touch judge as it isn't great. I've got no problem getting decisions wrong, but he actively provokes people which is unprofessional.

Regardless of the touch judge we got battered today. Our forwards tackling was horrendous apart from Josh Woods. They kept us in the game with poor completion first half but second half they completed and dominated us.

As we were losing in the middle we started forcing poor passes which led to the score line getting blown out of proportion.

I thought Doncaster were a lot better than I expected and are surprised at their first few results with the quality they have, but we were poor in many areas of the game.

The thing with the half back pairings, you need a mix of player,Johnson not the quickest same as walker, could do with a bit of pace and support play the other half dictate and kick, both seem to want to do the same job.but not a lot of decent half's about anymore, more a loose forward turning  half's in the modern game.

Probably doesn't help that Cressy and Wood aren't particularly quick either hence our whole spine doesn't have a huge amount of strike.

When Forber comes on it makes a noticeable difference to the whole side due to his pace.

Still need to give it time though. We have played 4 league games and have 2 wins. Hasn't been the best conditions for attacking rugby either so I think we need to be patient.

  3. 26 - 4 at HT and scraped a win 27-20.

Due to a medical emergency half time was 45 mins. Dewsbury came into the second half fired up and we made a lot of errors second half which brought them back into the game.

Emslie had his best game in a Barrow shirt and thoroughly deserved man of the match.

Have to disagree think with Stack unavailable best option is Max Clarke into Back Row and Shane or Broadbent in the centre. Personally think Charlie plays better in the middle as a prop than a second row.

    Agree with this.

Having Clarke in second row is handy as he can fill in at centre if we get an injury in outside backs.

I'd also prefer Wood and Forber to rotate one more time if subs allow it. Wood does first 20 mins of each half to take sting out of the game and Forber to finish the halves when the game opens up.

Didn’t have 1 run all game! Just gave a few hospital passes to stack, did nowt, no wonder keighley fans said good riddance we can see why! Stands back always spot him on the field the one with the cleanest kit on!

Did nout? He literally won us the game.

Wasn’t there today but a couple of digs at Brad Walker already? Can anyone expand

Only thing he really did wrong was put a kick out on the full and a couple of stray passes.

Our attack was clunky but that wasn't purely down to him.

There was 7 minutes left, he put a superb grubber through 60m from their try line which put Johnston through, 2 play the balls later we score. He then 1 minute to go he nails a drop goal to win us the game.

Don't get the negativity, try assist wise in all the games including pre season he's created the most by a mile. Can't understand the target which has been put on his back by some fans.

  7. 14 - 8 down with 7 minutes to go and we end up winning 15 - 14.

Doesn't matter how it happened but we got the points and hopefully gives us a confidence boost into 2 winnable games.

Think what disappoints me again is Ryan Johnston's performance, missing touch from a penalty, poor ill thought out drop out from under the posts in 2nd half, kick charged down by Haven forward.  Feel he should stop trying to wind opponents up and concentrate on his own game, he is more than good enough.

Having said that he has been outstanding in other games but like too many of the squad seems to panic when under pressure, Haven looked more composed in setting up the drop goal, we were all over the place.

Will still be there shouting on the lads but please cut out the errors/mistakes and the wins will come.

Ryan plays his best rugby when he is calm, measured and sticks to a basic game plan.

I feel every time he has a run of good games he gets over confident and tries too hard to make things happen which leads to mistakes.

Best game I saw him play was Bradford away last year. He didn't do a lot apart from direct the team round and kick them to death which won us the game.

Same old same old. Argghhhh.  Something must change as we have the same ###### every week already as last season. Sort it out Mr Chairman

There's basic improvements to start winning games, we shown we could beat Haven away in the 1895 cup.

Long way to go, it's not panic stations.

10 points up why on earth are we going for a short drop out. Didn't work, invited pressure lead to two tries for haven. Horrendous decision making.

Missed that from my post, absolutely brain dead.

  11. Got beaten by the basics of rugby league today.

Haven completed better, less errors and better discipline.

Their first 3 tries came from having a kick charged down, not kicking a penalty into touch and knocking in our own half.

We also did 3 incorrect play the balls in one game which must be a record for semi professional football.

Whitehaven did the basics well and deserved their win.

Burke has been training. I’d have Wilko on the bench as hooker cover, he’s played there before.

Looks like Tom Forber will be on the bench as signed on loan from Wigan, he's a really good hooker.

  13. Hopefully team is:

    Cresswell

    Shaw

    Costello

    Toal

    Bulman

    Walker

    Johnston

    Walker

    Wood

    Silva

    Stack

    Greenwood

    Wilkinson

    Emslie

    Rothwell

    Clarke

    Jackson

I'm guessing Smith and Burke won't be fit after last week. Bulman appears to be training so hopefully he is fit. Jackson for cover on the bench for hooker and halves.

Who was the lad who came on at prop against Wakefield? He looked quite a handful. Maybe tempted to put him on the bench for a bit of size.

Game will be won up the middle Friday. Forecast a lot of rain so it's going to be a tough one.

    It did do Barrow justice.

Barrow scored from two kicks and threw everything at Trinity for 80 minutes and didn’t break the line once all 80 minutes.

A couple of try’s bombed by trinity by poor handling such as Hood diving over without the ball, Walmsley unable to take a pass to send him over and a poor option taken after a Booth break and Jowitt break were some. Trinity played pretty poor in attack and ball retention was poor not completing about 5/6 sets in a row. But the reality is that despite a raft of possession Barrow continually got halted by strong defence. The defence from Trinity was good today. The attack and ball retention was clunky but at 30-12 with a few missed chances it’s good to play not very well and still win fairly comfortably.

I’m not sure that Griffin at centre worked today or Vagana at second row. Think Powell is still trying to see how versatile some players are.

No doubt Fev will be more of a challenge and Trinity need to up their game but even if we play as we did today I can’t see it being a hiding. Would certainly be a close game though if we did. Playing Amatuer teams for weeks hasn’t helped but today will serve as a kick up the backside I’m sure.

Lino, Thornley and Likely Doyle will be a boost next week I suspect too. Though young Smith is looking like a cracking young 9. You can see why he played for England academy last year.

Barrow were missing a lot of strike players. 2 top try scorers from last season Broadbent and Bulman were unavailable which meant putting a dual reg amateur on the wing (he did score twice to be fair). We were also missing Stack and Greenwood who score a lot of tries from second row. Harvey Makin (young prop) played 60 minutes at second row when Charlie Emslie got injured.

Wakefield looked well drilled and organized on their line but it will be interesting to see if their line holds against better back lines. If they can then they will be very formidable.

I'm a big fan of Wakefield pitch also. I've seen games across all levels (particularly super league) and think they have been a worse quality due to the pitch being too heavy but we managed to see some good fast rugby yesterday.

    Wakefield 30-12 Barrow FT

Wakefield came out at a ridiculous pace to go 12-0 but after that their forwards seemed to tire a bit and Barrow competed very well and controlled a lot of game particularly in the second half.

Wakefield had significantly better players in their spine and out wide hence were always a threat but Barrows scramble defence was very good.

Barrow fans have come away pretty happy. I genuinely think our side is going under the radar this year particularly in the pack.

  16. Beaten 30 - 12.

We had a shocking first 5 minutes going down 12-0 but we competed with Wakefield for a good 75 minutes and had periods of dominance.

Pack was outstanding and kicking in the second half was superb along with our defence.

We have a good side here, there was a lot to like about today's performance.
