Actress Olivia de Havilland, aged a magnificent 104. A trouper 'til the end.
Bless her. It's people like her I would invite to my virtual dinner party. I bet she has some fantastic stories to tell. RIP

Saw Moana last night for the first time, actually quite a good film, I enjoyed it.
Haven't watched a "grown up" film in years. When I babysit g/daughter I let her choose a dvd. If it's The Greatest Showman I think "please kill me now" although her interpretation of the relationship with the trapeze lady is sweet. She explains very carefully to me that in the olden days black skinny-ed people and white skinny-ed people weren't allowed to hold hands. My top four are Sing (Taaron Egerton's version of I'm Still Standing better than the original), Tangled (Mother Knows Best is excellent), Alladin and Coco.

They stopped the practice as management thought it an infection risk.
We haven't gone that far yet with the staff books but all the kids books and toys have gone from the waiting room for the same reason sadly.

I only buy books second hand and usually have a healthy stock of good reads waiting to be picked up and opened.
Where I work we have 45-50 staff. Those of us who read always bring in the good ones and leave them in the staff room for others to take and recycle. Luckily many of us are crime readers so there's always a good selection. I have Amazon Prime which offers a good selection of free downloads every month and have joined a few libraries across the UK for e-books. If you join more than just your local library you get more chance of getting the most popular books. They are easy to download and you get 21 days to read a book all for free. I got the latest Jo Nesbo from the library while it was still in hardback on the shelves in the supermarkets!

Police by Joe Nesbo, book ten in the Harry Hole series. It's unusual in that I'm on page 120 and as yet Harry although mentioned occasionally has yet to become part of the story, non the less it's gripping stuff
I've read all the Harry Hole books and never been disappointed. Outside of the Hole series The Son is a great book

The boy's car just taken it up the rear by a young un unable to steer out of a skid.... snow in rovrum is a kind of "mushy grey" colour.....
Been trying to advise mine on this. Have said about keeping distance and only touching brake lightly. Should you steer out of a skid? I've never done it ??

In addition to that fine young chap Futtock's advice, for your first shot at Islay whiskies (there's only 8 of them and the bottles will all say it) don't be afraid to half and half it with water.
Be aware this is a good mark of someone who hasn't a clue what they're talking about, many of the more robust Islay whiskies are far better with a touch of water. I met the Laphroaig master distiller a few years ago and he was very clear that cask strength Islays MUST have at least a touch of water or you're missing much of the flavour that the water releases.
I was relaying this to my daughter today as my mum's second husband always had a glass or two of whisky in the evening which mum served with a small jug of water. Back then I thought it would taste pretty horrid with water but reading the above it now makes sense. My daughter was asking if having it on the rocks would be the same or would the ice just ruin it?

Got a Hospital appointment tomorrow, but do not have any bus fare for the trip, so it's a three mile uphill (mostly) walk there for a 1140, and a (Mostly) downhill walk back, then off to the Job Centre for 1600 meeting with my (No)work coach.
My daughter applied for job seekers a month or so ago. I have waited outside for her on three occasions and each time she has come out in tears. I know it's a c rappy job and they probably have to put up with a lot but do they have to be so nasty to everyone. Do they think people enjoy having to go to the food bank to feed their children?

Don't know if I have put this previously but people commenting at work negatively about what people are eating. I had a very loud "errrrrrrggh" because I dared to put tomato ketchup on a fish. In addition I had some very rude women retching deliberately because I dared to eat black pudding.
Try working with nurses on that subject. We have a kitchen/sitting room to eat our lunch in but I'm b*gg8r*d if I'm gonna sit there just to have some staff nurse make loud scathing remarks like "don't you need some carbs with that?!".
Like you I have also had people making retching noises as I open a can of pilchards. I eat at my desk now................COMMENT FREE AND CARB FREE

Went to Morrisons cafe with daughter who is vegetarian.
Daughter: Omelette meal please
Cashier: Sorry we haven't got any omelettes today
D: Oh err what other vege options are there?
C: Salad, jacket potato, egg, chips and beans?
D: What? Wait you have eggs then?!
C: Yes
D: So why can't I have an omelette?
C: We don't have any omelettes.
D: So I'll have eggs, chips and beans and can the eggs be mixed up in a bowl before they are cooked?
C: No the chef is not allowed to do that. The omelettes are brought in from an outside company. You can only have fried egg.

There is no emotion I can describe for this.
I had a file... a small ring file that I kept every gig stub from almost every gig I attended that required a ticket. A chronicle of my youth.
We've recently cleared out a lot of sh it from the spare room and it appears I've chucked it out with all my old crapola.
Given my memories of 77-81 are proven to be hazy at best.... I just wanted to check the u2 gig in sheff.... dates/prices etc. It's probably getting eaten by rats on the landfill site now.... sheeite!!!!!!!!
Proper gutted.
Several things have happened recently where I've realised stuff has been thrown out which I now regret. I feel for you it's flipping horrible.

Anyone remember Courage the Cowardly Dog (from the same era)? Scared me to death when the kids were watching it but they seemed to love it! It was so dark.
