If Salford 1st team players are refusing to play then surely that game will have to be called off as I hear the RFL are big on player welfare and putting lads in to play against Leeds who are nowhere near ready to play first team would not be in their best interests......

And how long do you reckon it would take to get say Bradford, London and York up to the playing standard of Huddersfield, Castleford and Salford, the suggested 3 if they come up with the quality of players they presently have on their rosters are nowhere near those of the SL incumbents, these clubs may be the bottom dwellers of SL but they are far far better than the Championship clubs, who would firstly not only have to get up to match them, but to get better than them to make the excersize worthwhile.
The only way for a Championship club to come up and be competitive, is through P&R and do what Leigh and Wakefield have done and that is build a team whilst in the Championship that is to be SL ready, these two clubs employing this method have eliminated the Yo-Yo syndrome and have proved beyond any doubt that system can and does work.
If ambitious Championship club can't afford to finance this method they are of no use to SL, 1 club being promoted would be bad enough 3 would be catastrophic for the functionality of SL.
No need to worry if it upsets the IMG applecart they are almost gone.
I agree with a lot of what you said but its worth pointing out that Wakefield did not go back to SL on the back of a P&R system. They had the benefit of knowing that under IMG criteria they were pretty much certain to regain their spot in SL. Now Im not saying it would have been any different if they needed to win promotion but theres still a chance they might not have won the most important game at the end of the season.

Future is a little brighter, Leeds & Hudds have the best U19 academy teams this year, so hopefully they can progress to 1st team in next few years
Big clash on Sunday on these 2 sides before the WSL game at Headingley
I know a few of the lasses at Huddersfield and I am inrigued to see if any of the older end currently playing for the 19's can get a look in for the first team squad by the end of the season. I think maybe 6/7 of this weekends team that Hudds will have to make a decision on at the back end of the year.

Lots of negative comments on there, mainly from people who don't have a clue what they are talking about. I do have a bit of sympathy for the Bulls, they are in a really tough position. They still have the reputation that they were one of the first SL champions but other teams have passed them by.They are now in a position where none of the best talent will consider them with there been so many more clubs around the area in better positions, experienced players who know the score more are not going to go there and get beat every week but they still have that big draw reputation likely for parents of younger kids. A lot of talk on there about the squad mainly been 16/17/18 but those kids are not going to get better by been hammered every week by other teams in the Championship who also have kids around the same age playing for them.
The harsh reality is that most of their players would not stand out in League 1 but been thrust in to such a tough league like the Championship simply can't have a good effect on them. As mentioned before, as a club the top 6 in League 1 would all comfortably do better than the Bulls and Cas in the Championship but the RFL will be loathe to relegate either team at the end of this season when they restructure so I really don't know what the answer is for them. Its going to be interesting over the next year or so if the Bradford and cas clubs start to take their womens sections seriously now both teams seemingly have backers willing to splash a bit of cash.

For the conspiracy theorists this must mean that the live IMG scores are indicating that Bradford will be the team to replace Salford.......

Bradford's coach left during the week and its going to be a tough ask for anyone going there and they got a bit of a hiding off Salford 72-6. Im still leaning towards thinking Fev could be the team to go back to SL next season. I expect London to lose some players to Union at the back end of the season so I think Fev are more than capable of beating London but with them not having to play each other again until the playoffs, that game will be in London. Both teams will beat Warrington easily so we will have a new team in SL next season either way.
Busy weekend in League 1 where fryston held off a late Halifax comeback to win 28-22. Then a couple of shocks as Leigh picked up their first win of the season against a Stanningley team that has had a huge drop off with a 8-10 result. Workington also pulled off a shock beating Wakey 18-8 and Workington look to be the steady improvers after their promotion last year. I got down to watch Illingworth nearly pull off a shock win over Widnes in a really good game that could have gone either way. The league title looks to be heading to Widnes this year as both Wakey and Stanningley gradually lose players. Widnes and Wakey look secure as top 2 but then there will be 4 to go in to 2 for the reamining places. Leigh climb off the bottom with their win and Fax drop to last having recieved a penalty for forfeiting a game.

Apart from Warrington, Huddersfield just feel like Super Leagues least ambitious team. They have the resources, they were ahead of the curve when it came to contracts and set up in comparrison to other teams but now they just seem to be standing still. Too many players comfortable, pretty poor recruitment, and settling for been No. 5.

Funnily enough, James Child mentioned on the forty20 podcast last week Widnes were one of the clubs mentioned as being in the 14 which surprised me. The fan base seems very disenchanted with the way things are at their club at the moment.
Very similar with the Bulls in that respect. Both teams would be going in on the back of previous glories and history but its impossible to say if its the right thing to do as for all we know if York or Oldham were given the chance, what is to say they couldnt be pulling in 7K+ in a year or two?

Beat them with 12 men after Halafihi was red carded
I thought he got a yellow with around 10 minutes to go? By the sounds of it Toulouse spent the game on the edge of the laws, I can't remember who they were playing but it was also said about them the other week. I still think they have the best team when fully fit but their discipline is increasingly becoming a major problem for them.

The SL clubs are thinking of the money away fans will bring if Bulls are in SL is my guess
We have taken around a 1000 to Doncaster and Oldham. 1500 to York 2000 to Halifax. York London Toulouse won't get close to them figures.
Nail on the head. The only other team I reckon that could bring income to current SL clubs would be Widnes. I have a sneaky suspicion that if they were in there they would out draw any other team that has been mentioned. Plus if we are talking about York and Oldham going in there then why not Widnes?

Fax claiming a shock 30-16 win against what seems to be a typical Toulouse close to the edge performance.

Hull KR not smart enough to give the penalty away there so they could challenge it despite all their players appealing.

Hunslet, who were promoted from League 1 last year have now conceded 200 points in their last 3 home games. Having correctly (in my view) set about reducing the Championship to 12 teams, are we really going to chuck all the League 1 teams in with the Championship teams next year?
Last years promotion and relegation format between the championship and league 1 was one of the more crazier things ive seen in the sport in recent seasons. It just ended up been a worse case scenario in we relegated a team finishing 12th to promote a team finishing 4th all because they won a one off game. The situation with hunslet this season, I think most of us saw coming, they are miles off been ready to play in the Championship and there is a chance this season could set them back years as they have been riddled with fall outs and in fighting in the camp which can often be the case when you are getting beaten every week.
By changing the format in the leagues just to get equal numbers, all it did was reduce the quality in the higher division, there seems to be very little thought or long term thinking in RL and as PH says we could see it again next season if league 1 and the Championship merge. 100 point scorelines in front of 1 man and his dog incoming if that happens and then we are also looking at reducing the quality in SL by adding two teams who will likely get no funding and will get hammered every week likely setting those clubs back a year or two. "Pro" RL is just a total #######how.

Failed to wrap, penalty only right decision.

Probably kop a ban for that.

What a finish to the game, great kick from Gaskin. Leeds are going to feel hard done by firstly by that VR decision and by the missed 2 points in front of the posts just before that final try.

I think it's when you tip York to win lol.
Which must be every week because they are that good?

Decent game so far but awful VR ref decision just then. Not a chance that Saints player intentionally grounded the ball, she was clearly trying to pick it up.

Are you sure it wasnt the York fans you meant to apologise to?
Not sure if thats aimed at me or if you are just talking to yourself? This thread has a funny way of doing things like this.
If it's me Im not sure what I have got to apologise to the York fans for? Its just a bit of fun, nothing to take too serious.

Oops missed the York V Bradford game. No York hype train derailment this week I am sorry to say Bradford fans. York by 10. I'm really surprised how average Bradford have been this season given how much cash they were splashing about pre-season. I do think the pitch at Odsal and having Noble back has not helped with things, but I stil expected more from them. York at the moment do look to be the 2nd best team in the league behind a fully fit Toulouse team and have a lot of momentum behind them.
As for my team the wheels have well and truly fallen off. I were hoping after the start we have had we would get some stability but with our better performers looking likely to leave at the end of the season, I can't see that happening. I reckon we might have just 1 or 2 wins left in us this season especially with no home advantage. Our start might mean that is enough to be safe but we will see. Ive not been to many games this season, I am seriously disallusioned with the game at the top couple of levels and have been sticking to amateur games for the most part each weekend and it would take something pretty spectactular from Fax over the next season or two for that to change for me.
