Its probably a pretty attractive job given our last 2 coaches have both gone on to find full time opportunities in SL. I imagine that may have had some bearing on his decision.

Not surprising with the amount of moaning that Fev are in town on the fax Facebook.
Sounds like they aren't opening the north stand and fax are fearing for their lives.
On a brighter note will be a good championship advert on the telly for everyone to watch!
Joking aside I get why fans of both sets give it a miss so won't get in to those arguments. I were brought up on trips to the Boulevard so to be honest I like games that have a bit of an edge to them and think it can add to the atmosphere mingling with other fans. As for the good advert for the championship I really don't know what to expect. As a player, especially the ones who already know their place is safe, i'd be trying to keep out of trouble and that probably means not putting 100% in so just because of that and our form I think it will be a comfortable Fev win and not great advertisement.
Edit: Ive just seen the thread you talked about. My favorite comment is now avoiding the game because they don't want kids to hear the expletives that come out of Fev fans mouths. Erm all I can say is that they must not stand anywhere near our "barmy army" every week then. I thought I were told old to learn new swear words but it turns out I were wrong.-

Going back to the original point I certainly couldn't see myself sitting through 2 games nevermind 3 and the only reason I will do it this once is because the CC Final has some different teams in it. If it Was say Wigan V Leeds/Saints V Wigan or some combination I simply wouldnt bother with it and would just watch the Fax game. This year will be a much more interesting final and I will likely decide during the game who I want to win which will keep the interest.

Well you can start with scrapping Dual Reg
I would do it in a heartbeat just to hear all the Super League teams start whinging about how are they supposed to develop their talent. Here is an idea don't sign every kid who has set foot on a rugby field so some may filter down in to the lower leagues which is probably a standard more realistic to them and they stand a better chance of staying in the game.

There's a reason why Dec Patton is at Bradford, after being highly rated as a young player, and you've probably hit on it.
He's become a bit of a Jack of all trades at Bradford and likes to have his say and have a finger in every eye.
Edit: I mean pie not eye, honest.

I am sure they are plenty of kids out there that were over looked by super league that could go on too make a living out of playing rugby. Plus championship clubs would have more time to nurture them . There is also the fact that if your club put more into your local community kids grow up wanting to play for there home town team.
They may have time but they won't have the money or resources and it will be a minority that would decide to go to a Championship team when they are sold the dream of SL. This isn't just a problem with your team its a fundamental problem of the game and why it is stagnating in my opinion.

No teams in Championship are ever going to vote to make it smaller to much self interest that's why they went from 12 to 14 teams. Granted the quality of the league with all in it might not be as good at first but would clubs at top end have to pay so many players top wages to compete? With time to develop there own youth players this would give lower teams a chance to pick up other players on the way down from super ect.
What do you suggest as a system for the teams to develop their own youth players? At the moment every player who plays for a decent community team is signed up by Super League clubs if they have so much as looked at a rugby ball then the rest of the teams get chance to pick up the ones which get disguarded by SL clubs and actually still want to give semi pro rugby a shot which is a very small percentage of players that originally get signed.

Yeah its a bit baffling that our cup form has been pretty good while our league performances have been poor.

think Batley may disagree there
Batley lost 8 games last season and have so far lost 7 this season with around 6 games to go. It would be interesting to hear the Batley fans thoughts as from an outsider I don't think they have been better than last season.

Are that many teams in the championship really spending trying to achieve Super League? I really only see Fev, Toulouse, and Bradford spending a ton of money, anyone else does not seem to have a realistic chance so they probably live more within their means.
Also as a fan of a Championship club I have to ask myself if that sort of system would interest me and to be honest it really wouldnt, I go to most games now but have started picking and choosing a bit more this season as theres really only about 4 or 5 games a season that I think I wake up and really want to go to it and that would be the same in that sort of system. For that reason alone it probably ends up costing teams money as crowds drop and there isn't enough money to cover expenses. I really couldn't see it working and it would be far too many games for the players as well.

I don't see you have anything to worry about in the slightest. We are out of form and have been most of the season, we have a bunch of players who certainly won't want to get injured for the following week, we have a coach who will say the right things in the build up regarding places been up for grabs, we also have a coach that likely already knows his wembley team and someone having a worldy would not change that.

Huge culture change at Bradford has gone well. Makes me wonder how much they have spent on this squad just to scrape in to the playoffs when some thought they would be competing with Fev for the top prize.

Good win for Barrow, shockingly Widnes still have a chance to make the playoffs. I think this indicative in a drop in standards in the championship, outside of Fev & Toulouse. Nobody else really stands out to me
That's my opinion too. I don't think its a case of other teams catching up I just think there has been a drop in standards. I don't even think Fev have improved that much, if any, from last season. I just think the teams that were predicted to close that gap have not kicked on. In the case of 3 out of 4 of the other teams in last years top 6 they have dropped off a cliff.

Thought Barrow were excellent, played almost perfect rugby when you take in to account the pitch and the conditions. Actually saying that I don't think I can remember a game where any team at this level has put in such a complete performance again given the circumstances.

Near perfect from Barrow but abysmal by Bradford. Luckily for Bradford losing a player to a red does not make an iota of difference on that pitch so if they manage to sort themselve out they should still be able to win this.

Someone talk us through that forward pass then.

If you eat the food and drink the drink before you go in I reckon you'll be fine
You don't know me, that would probably only see me through the first game.

Just wondering if they do body searches, Im willing to be very creative.

How stringent are the searches going in? Just wondering what lengths I need to go to so I can smuggle food and drink in.

My son plays and logically the risks at junior level and even at amateur level are likely to be far lower than at full time pro level.
I'm not entirely sure this will be correct but do not have anything that supports either argument with stats but the problem we see at junior level is that players are still learning technique and a lot of injuries come from bad technique, on top of that you can see a huge difference in range of sizes of players at the same age groups as players mature. I know we see that at pro level but theres a higher percentage of players that can mitigate that because of better technique.
Its really hard to say what the solution is because you can teach correct technique in a safe way but at some point it needs to be done at full speed like a game situation. At the team I am involved with we do very little player on player contact work, maybe once a month and always when we have no game at the weekend, other than a little bag work which maybe once every couple of weeks, everything else is ball work. We are very strict with head injuries and even other injuries but we have seen a number of times that pro clubs our players are at do not have the same ethics.

Would love him to come to Fax, it was really close to happening before he took the Cas job so we would be stupid not to at least talk to him.
