31 players in the match managed not to get binned or sent off. The 3 who did have themselves to blame, not the ref. I doubt the ref blowing his whistle would have stopped Worthington seeing red and picking up a potentially injured player is just stupidity and not the refs fault either.

Did you watch the incident? Did you see the 2 feet off the ground lunge by Miloudi? If the officials call that I really doubt the fight breaks out and while I agree all 3 are to blame I also think the officials could have been quicker to act and they also made a mistake. It also won't alter my view that Miloudi got everything that was coming to him and as the old saying goes if the officials won't look after our players they will have to look after themselves.

The RFL have introduced Game Day Manager's at junior level and I'm one of them. That individual has to step in to try and calm their own speccies down. If they can't they inform the ref who has the power to stop the game. Zero tolerance is the only way forward.

However having "trained" for this role it puts a heavy burden on me when it gets heated.

Some of the worst things I see at the junior levels are usually from people who are part of the teams, be that coaches, first aiders or helpers. I saw it at an U12's game that I were watching a couple of weeks back with the opposition coach not only abusing an official that was u18 but also being awful to his own team. That is not the standard that should be set and complaints were sent in but likely nothing will come of it.

Thanks. Didn't think the ref was capable of knowing such rules, afterall he struggled with even some of the basics.🤣

My favorite decisions of the afternoon were in the first half. Walmsley is getting dragged in to touch and passes the ball back, the ref says that he had already called held and gives a penalty to Dewsbury. 2 minutes later Dewsbury player offloads in the tackle and the ref says that he had called held and gives him the ball back and lets him play the ball. I think that just about sums up how inconsistant he was for both teams all afternoon.

  4. Going to be a big battle now between Barrow and Bradford for the last play off spot, top 2 looks done and then very nice results for Fax today, I don't want to count our chickens but those shocks make 3rd look a pretty good bet given the remaining fixtures for each team. Fax at home to York and after today it probably makes it a must win for York obviously this is presuming that none of those 3 teams are able to beat Leigh or Fev in their remaining games.

Dewsbury have a huge task to stay in the division they just looks so poor. Fax rested players and really did not get out of 1st gear today and it were still like a training session. I just can't see where their wins are going to come from.

I really don’t know which game you were watching but it obviously wasn’t the Panthers/Roosters one.

The human body is not designed to bend at the angle that the attackers did. Now personally I do not think it should have been a penalty as its a pure accident but I do think the defender should be spoke to about his technique as it were his poor technique that placed the attacker in a dangerous position in trying to execute what essentially should have been a pretty standard roll type tackle. Certainly nothing textbook about the tackle.

I must be living in a parallel universe if Verrills did anything other than a standard textbook tackle

There's really nothing textbook about that tackle.

He tackled around the legs, you’d better write a letter to all the kids coaches in the country & tell them they’ve been doing it wrong all these years.

Ive wrote to myself. 🤣 I won't be showing any kids how to tackle like that any time soon.

That penalty he gave for basically a tackle when the Penrith player went over the tackler was utter farce, just so ridiculous.

But he could have broke his neck.......I do agree though but to the letter of the law its a penalty and the defenders technique is shocking.

The only criticism I have for the officials in the barrow game is not blowing it up prior to Worthington's retribution. If they had managed the situation and penalised Miloudi for the high shot, headbutt or the choke hold on the floor, would Worthington's reaction been the same? Probably not.

The biggest criticism should go to the disciplinary panel. Miloudi has form for this sort of behaviour and for feigning injury, so why did he only get a one match ban? My understanding is, the disciplinary panel takes previous misdemeanours into account when sentencing, yet not in this case.

This is the best take of it on this thread. No problem with Fax 2 red cards but Miloudi should have been a red as well and it all could have been avoided by stronger refereeing. The fact is even when Worthington was standing up in a position to play the ball the ref had still not blown for any foul play and it was only after Worthington took matters in his own hands that the whistle went. We now lose 2 players for a combined nearly half of the season.

Yeah, I see exactly where your going with it, which is why I'm done with it.

That was the response I expected and although my previous post was verging on ridiculous and stupid the question still remains the same, where do you draw the line? You can't have a one ban fits all for every incident. In this incident there is very little chance that the player has neck or spinal damage and worse case is likely to be concussion in which case moving a player with concussion will cause little if any further damage.

Agree with you DKW both Fax players are going to get lengthy bans and rightly so. Some Fax fans seem obsessed with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Yorkshire  TV make a documentary highlighting the injustice of it all.

I can't speak for others but its the fact that the ref did not blow his whistle, and had no intention to, for the attacks on Worthington's head which if he did, and he had plenty of time to do it, would have meant us not losing two of our best players for a combined nearly half of the season. The original perpitrator only getting a one match ban for creating the whole incident just typifies the whole RL judiciary system for me.

No there isn't, there's no difference at all, because unless the offending player is a genius Doctor able to diagnose an injury by just looking at the player in the ground they will never know the extent of an injury.

The disciplinary can't let him off because the injured player wasn't harmed by his actions.

What are you going to do about cramp? You see where I am going with this, where do you draw the line. You can say I am not using common sense but how would any player unless they are a genius doctor know the difference between cramp and a torn say calf muscle that could actually do more damage by been stretched off? FWIW as I have said many times on the thread if someone is prone with a possible head/neck/spine injury then if our player lifted them they should be looking at a lengthy ban. As it is Titus would have been better waiting for Miloudi to come back on the field and just straight out stuck the nut on him and would be banned for less games.

On the flip side it does look like Titus has been dropped this week because of his actions.

It is though, its one of the worst things a player can do on the pitch and needs punished harshly to stop others even considering doing it.

Each incident should be judged on its own merit. There is a huge difference between lifting a prone player who has had a late shot and lifting a player who has just been involved in a fist fight. The whole reason the rule was introduced was to protect against spinal injuries and there is no way Miloudi was going to be suffering from a spinal injury and as much as this part of the game does need stamping out so does the play acting side. Miloudi wasn't even deemed in a state that required an HIA which suggests there was an element of play acting involved.

I'd agree , but recalling Jamie Acton's ban for the Greg Bird incident , it'll fail , although at least Miloudi had actually been hit , unlike the scumbag Bird

If the player was prone on the floor then I would totally support the ban but the fact Miloudi is pretty much crawling on the floor just makes it look really soft. There was little chance of neck or back injury due to the nature of the incident and at very worse there could be a claim that its lifting someone with possible concussion. The fact that Miloudi did not have an HIA will no doubt come up in the hearing as well. The agent who represents both players has also come out and said he supports a ban but that ban been 8 matches is totally ridiculous. Gwaze has no previous and as a part time player is now likely to miss out on a lot of money if banned for 8 games and when times are tight like this I hope common sense preveils.

Its a shame as all the bans could have been avoided if the referee had taken the appropriate action on the pitch at the time.

Shame for Greg as I felt he was having one of best games for us , there was a bit of niggle between Greg and hakim earlier on and I think miloudi was being dominated and didn’t like it , the incident wouldn’t have escalated with a more experienced ref who took far too long to blow , shame that Greg and Titus ll miss the summer bash but that’s life I guess . One thing I will say , times are hard for a lot of people but this fax side are worth every penny , the championship by en large on tv has been a good watch on the whole.

Yeah pretty similar to my take. Miloudi is not used to not having his own way and Worthington was dominating him and he tried to make his mark and got it badly wrong. Also like you say, watching the replay the ref was not even giving a penalty and was urging Worthington to play the ball so himself and the touch judge had decided no wrong doing in the tackle and it was only after it kicked off that they deemed it a penalty. Game should have been stopped after Miloudi's first "tackle". The only thing which may save Worthington a long ban is the fact that it is very clearly not an unprovoked attack and there are numerous pieces of evidence as to why he reacted in the way he did.

  15. Ive watched it again this morning as I thought it might just be heat of the moment stuff last night but I still feel the initial Miloudi tackle deserved 10 minutes, its dibatable if its malicious but its a 2 feet off the ground lunge at a players head and he did not miss. The headbut that certainly happened should have been a red. I get the feeling from Miloudi's actions that he is not used to someone standing up to him and he went cowering away like the bully he is. Gwaze's ban should not be as long in my opinion, its different to a prone player been lifted off the floor like we have seen before, this was a fist fight and the chances of injuring a player in that situation are very slight so I think because of his record a ban of 2-3 games would be fair. Give Miloudi similar and I expect Worthington, who also has no rep as a dirty player in his career maybe 3 games as well juding that Fairbank got 5 games if I remember and he has previous.

What a game though, not many teams will go up there and dominate against a good team like we did and it was pretty much from start to finish. I think it does show there is also a bit of a gulf now between 3rd and 5th and the chasing pack and its going to be so close between York, Batley, and Fax for 3rd. We all have to play each other but I think York have to play both Fev and Leigh and Batley still have Leigh to play which is likely to leave the teams with 1 point covering them.

Another shameful comment, it is rugby not boxing and thuggery deserves a straight red.

Yeah he was always getting a red, Ive no problem at all with the red card it was justified but I also believe Worthingtons reaction was justified. You don't get to take liberties on a rugby field and get away with it. Its a tough sport and if you are going to act like a grub you have to accept that at some point you are going to get your ass handed to you.

Just watched video.  First Barrow player goes in with swinging arm.  Then rejoins tackle when player cant defend himself to put his head in and rip on his neck.  Then applies pressure, again when player cant defend himself.

100% should be banned and I think player must have right to defend himself in ref wont.

Spot on and first Barrow player is also Maloudi. He should not have even been given the chance to go back in the game should have been stopped at that point. Like I say I think it was frustration because Worthington had him in his back pocket all game.

  18. 3 minutes ago, Anonymouse said:

Ive watched it, it isnt an innocuous takle by any means, you see them week in week out, it was high and I think the touch judge pointed to that in the discussion with the ref, hence the penalty call after two well deserved reds. The yellow was a ridiculous call. 8 matches each will be justified and your apraisal for such thuggery is disgraceful fella.

But both officials missed the high tackle, neither got it otherwise Maloudi would not have got a second chance. Worthington was been allowed to stand up and play the ball and still the whistle had not gone. Worthington chose to take matters in to his own hands and his boxing skills came to good use.

Because you’re advocating violence and believe it’s okay. Thankfully, your Head Coach is a classier and more honest individual than yourself.

The officials didn't look after our player so he looked after himself. No ive really no problem with that at all and I know 100% that Simon Grix will say the same to Worthington as well away from the cameras.
