  1. Dont forget every minute counts but I think that only applies to fev when they keep going to sleep during matches. We need a bit of Dewsbury spirit like they showed yesterday until they made some terrible blunders in the last quarter a game they should have won but great effort Dewsbury.

On a better note looks like that club Widnes you know the one that was invited into super league if my memory serves me right will be getting more help.

    Clubs set to aid Widnes

After Widnes were saved from extinction last week, they are set to receive further help from Super League clubs to cut their losses in terms of playing squad. The Vikings were forced to let go of three players – Krisnan Inu, Wellington Albert and Adam Tangata – but are set to bring in some loan signings to bolster their squad.

Keiron Purtill still has a squad of 25 players, however most are still young and inexperienced, while star fullback Olly Ashall-Bott is still injured. Players like Wakefield’s Jordan Baldwinson and Wigan’s Jack Wells are just two names that have been mentioned as potential incomings.

  2. Well my family and I have been watching rovers both home and away since the 60s my dad before that rip.

We usually fetched a hot flask of oxo and the odd food especially during those cold winter months. I know it is supposed to be summer rugby now but tell that to the fans this weekend. To target people with this money grabbing ban is an ill thought out idea especially regarding hot drinks which can be vital for the older supporters like myself.

If Fev persist with this draconian idea it may well backfire as I personally and possibly others shall no longer be attending games in the future as I cannot be assed to trundle to the fev food sellers in a freezing queue only to get a plastic cup of bovril/oxo then try to forge my way back to my seat without spilling half of it over other fans it’s just not cricket.

I guess the next idea will be paying extra for exit seats next to the aisles in the stands or reserve a seat before the match or check in before kick off (Michael O'Leary eat your heart out) Some fans myself included need hot beverages during the games in cold weather no good 1 or 2 hours before the match in a warm pub or car.

If Fev persist with this nonsense I shall not be renewing my £64.99 tv subscription either.

So in essence this food/drinks ban could cost Fev the extra revenue they are hoping to extract from fans and alienate quite a few.

Better put my tin hat on now for all the you are wrong brigade you are not entitled to an opinion whereas it is opinions that really matter .

Up the Rovers Down with stupid rip off fans idea.

So as Haskey has mentioned on another thread in the League Express this week that Garry Schofield has predicted that Fev will inish 7th next season. And as the squads are starting to come together (Fax and Bulls anouching their 30+ man squads this last week) I therefore thought I'd start a new tread to discuss next years predictions.

Schofield has Leigh 2nd and Bradford 8th BTW, which seem a bit random to me. I suspect that he has to put in ones that are contraversal to justify himself.

So I'll have a go here at a prediction

    1. Toronto
    2. Toulouse
    3. Halifax
    4. Widnes
    5. Bradford
    6. Leigh
    7. Fev
    8. York
    9. Batley
    10. Sheffield
    11. Barrow
    12. Dewsbury
    13. Swinton
    14. Rochdale

I think the league is likely to be in two halfs again with the top 7 pulling away from the bottom 7. I think that Toronto should win the leauge hands down with Toulouse/Fax/Widnes fighting it out for the next three places, I have chosen Toulouse here to come 2nd again, but this is dependent on them geting results away from home). Then Fev/Leigh/Bradford fighting it out for the last spot in the top 5 but suspect that Bradford will get better as the season goes on, with their main players being full time, so just pipping it for 5th. We can do better but have to hit the road running at the start of the season and get at least 6 points out of a tough set of opening fixtures (Bulls(A), Batley(H), Leigh(A), Fax(H) and Widnes(A)) if we are going to make the top 5.

    Whats your predictions?

It pains me to say it but bradford will defo finish top 4 with kear at the helm

For fev  its a case of sink or swim depending on how much farting about we do with constant changes in the squad resulting in decent players being dropped for leeds second string thus alienating our own players but here’s hoping we finish up with a decent first team squad as at the mo we need some additions.

So its top or bottom 4 for me hopefully the 3rd or 4th

By the way Schofield predicted London would finish 10th last season so by that reckoning get your money on Sheffield

  4. Well I have been sitting back reading most comments honestly I thought I was a person who mostly looked on the black side but alas there seems to be quite a few doom merchants.

The game is on its knees and fev will continue to suffer especially with the superleague elitism and moneybags Toronto not to forget we owe shed loads of money Bradford but not to worry as they can spend money like there is no tomorrow once again if my memory serves me right the last liquidation in 2017 amounted to over 2 million in debt.

Fev need to take a risk with option C it may or may not be our saviour but risk quite often reaps reward but continuing to plod along in the current system is poor management of the club in my opinion.

    Tip for top 4

Toronto Bradford Toulouse Widnes followed by Fax and Fev told you I looked on the black side but not to forget leigh if some moneybags come along ?... koukash may want back in somewhere.

  5. Bang on Phil

Widnes were invited to the party without qualifying except in the eyes of the super we are all right jack clubs and although I do not like the toronto idea ( expansion my rrrrs the RfL keeps dropping further down the well time to take back control ) If toronto do get promoted just watch the brick walls starting to appear causing the further downward spiral of Rugby league it certainly ain’t gonna be a happy ending and grass roots rugby will almost disappear especially with the idea of teams from all over the globe being set up in the uk by their bored billionaires just like footy.

  6. Seeing the way rugby league is heading (steep cliff springs to mind)

I think the time has come at the end of every season that’s all  players surplus to requirements should be either:

    a) put in an auction to the highest bidder (ebay maybe?)

    b) advertised on a supermarket display board with prices available upon request (terms and conditions apply)

    c) be sold in a car type showroom to include guarantees for performace and breakdown cover

    d) walk around the streets with an ad board around their necks saying available after all they have just become commodities nowadays being on sale to the highest bidder (loyalty don’t make me laugh)

*Noting once a player is purchased there shall be regular performance reviews just like the average joe bloggs has to endure and if they are doing well they get a bonus if not they are out on their ears with no possibility of signing for another club until the following season so stop ranting on about the playoffs ruining players lives can’t pay the mortgages if we get relegated WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD you players are no different.

In fevs case after all the big bash results unfortunately we would be without a team.

    *On a more serious note

I stick with my regular yearly comments i.e.

Let the superleague go and get back to basics with york’s v lancs cups and a proper challenge cup like it used to be and let’s breakaway just like we did from the RFU.

I’m convinced those idiots running rugby league will in time come crawling back to any such breakaway league even sky will get sick of showing the same 12 teams over and over again I honestly believe the championship and league 1 are at a crossroads and sticking with the current lot ruining yes ruining rugby league they should grasp the opportunity with both hands and they shall survive otherwise we shall certainly be continuing down the long slippery slope with the sole intention of the likes of the we are alright jack St. helens and the wigan pie eaters clubs destroying the heartlands of rugby league.

  7. Thacks interview says it all i.e.

We’ve got a really tight knit group and we’re there for each other but it has been difficult. We know now that we aren’t going to have the same sort of squad next year,” he admitted, continuing that “we will probably be able to keep six or seven players… it’s bad really. I’m gutted really after what we’ve been through, it started in pre-season and it’s hard – we’ve got a really good group and it’s going to be torn apart in a few weeks’ time.”

If you have paid a player 30K to get out of his contract you have to wonder how much he was actually on.

My thoughts exactly no wonder fev are in the position they find themselves I just wonder how much we are paying John Duffy cos he was probably on a pittance at Swinton.

Seriously we need a closer look at our recruiting methods and I do realise players will not be queuing up to join Fev.

Heard from a source that the club have paid £30k to buy Hock out of his contract for next season.

Have also heard from the same source that Jay Duffy will be / has been relieved of his coaching duties for next season.

Wasn't it only a short while ago we extended his contract for 2019 surely anyone with half a brain cell would have made a sub clause opting out unless top 4 was achieved. OK he has been very good when not banned but what a mammoth cost he has been and Fev are totally to blame if they are paying him £30k to fly the nest I just wonder how much he has cost the club per match played including the speculated £30k.

Just hope John Davies remains but if he gets a decent offer he really ought to take it has he has been a loyal true workhorse and deserves better.

Who else will join Briscoe and go this year Thacks Moore Ulugia Hardman Taulapapa Ridyard Holmes Carlile Wildie Brooks perm any 6 from 10

In case anyone doesn't have twitter or Facebook the club are selling off the player worn summer bash shirts.

Who wants to buy a bash shirt.

Do they come with the words LOSERS AGAIN on them nothing whatsoever to celebrate about any of the lets bash fev matches.

No doubt fev will be selling the plate final shirts whereas it should of been much better.

Need I remind fans of our abysmal bash results

    2015 Lost 31-12 to Leigh

    2016 Lost 37-0 to Halifax

2017 Lost 42-16 to London Broncos

    2018 Lost 24-18 to Halifax

    Total for  46

    Total against  134

We are joint bottom of 18 teams in the league table for the bash results so buying a shirt which has not done anything noteworthy is beyond me unless you want reminding of fevs failures.

For me doing something similar to what Fax did when they missed out the other year seems a reasonable solution, didn't their squad take a 10% cut with the promise of the club repaying the reduction if they got top 4 the following year? Certainly would incentivise the squad to get into the 4 next season.

Sounds like a good idea baldrick just hope duffy also gets a pay cut if he is still at fev next season.

  12. If rovers lose to London and they really give it their best shot probably blaming the ref then ok but if it is a case of not being up for the fight then that is just not acceptable these are good championship players and need to be fired up without accumulating any more match bans. We can cope with one or two having an off day but not the majority of the squad as was the case against fax.

I predicted a 12 point win against fax and look what happened so no predictions on this one but for sure London are certainly beatable on grass.

Hock's just had a 1 game penalty notice for the same offence - use of knees, light contact. The difference being Hock didn't qualify for the low end of the punishment range (due to past indiscretions) and won't this time either

He's also very likely to be up for 'kicking' when the 1st half on report incident is reviewed. TBH I think the ref couldn't believe he'd actually seen what happened and that's why he didn't produce a card!

yes Im expecting hock gets a 2 match ban then if we do manage the top 4 he will come in handy hopefully without using his fists knees head and the rest.

At least he should be available for London, as disciplinary isn't as quick to review for us compared to SL.

lets hope he gets the same balanced treatment from the disciplinary but he can be his own worst enemy.

Today:  Mickael Simon (Catalans) - Grade A Strike with knee (0 Match Penalty Notice)

If we win next week, and TO beat Fax, the 4 will almost certainly be decided.

Leigh would be in 4th with and a win in the last week by both Fax and London would not take them above us.

To be honest I was sure we had blown it with the fax result but I did say it was down to the fax and london games so if we do give our absolute best against london because we need to do then just maybe we shall succeed however defence will be the key issue.

Desperate to make top 4 so we can make the signings we have been searching for otherwise kaput.

These points have been beaten to death so I will give you a few to chew on:

    1.  Gainful employment for numerous players and management staff (them having a job might not be important to you but it sure is to them!).

    2.  An increased home gate for clubs hosting Toronto (this money might not be important to you but it sure is to them!).

    3.  An exotic venue for fans to travel to...a strange and foreign land.  Many traveling fans have come over and really enjoyed themselves and intermixed; just ask the Batley gang that are coming home now.  I mean it, go ahead and just ask them how it went and see what they say.

    4.   Rugby League grassroots development in the Manchester area (in conjunction with the local university)...junior development also same going on over here in the Toronto area.

    5.  A new role model for clubs looking to promote themselves in the new and modern times...TWP is way ahead here and others would be wise to watch, listen and learn.  Some clubs have done this and captured a new Spirit...others continue on their doomed march to oblivion...the choice is yours.

    6.  Mass media exposure to both existing and new markets to grow the game for everyone who cares.

     7.  TWP takes no funds from others clubs and by doing so frees up a large and substantial amount of money for the other clubs/management.  Their exposure increases the fee to be demanded for the upcoming Sky contract since the product is now more attractive and has a greater mass appeal.  This revenue will be shared by all in RL with Toronto not even taking a cut.

    8.  A free, all expenses paid trip overseas for PLAYERS and management from the other teams...consider it a plum of the job and a reward for your numerous years of effort.  Of course, free compliments of the Wolfpack!

Well those are just a few of the advantages....there are many, many more.

    * Looks like many others have beat me to responding to your dreamworld are you on some sort of medication as you really are away with the fairies.

These points have been beaten to death so I will give you a few to chew on:

     1.  Gainful employment for numerous players and management staff (them having a job might not be important to you but it sure is to them!).

*All your non Canadian players already had jobs mostly in the UK but some elsewhere other than Canada.

    2.  An increased home gate for clubs hosting Toronto (this money might not be important to you but it sure is to them!).

*Pretty sure the average UK home gates for Toronto fixtures at Super league clubs will be lower especially once the novelty wears off.

     3.  An exotic venue for fans to travel to...a strange and foreign land.  Many traveling fans have come over and really enjoyed themselves and intermixed; just ask the Batley gang that are coming home now.  I mean it, go ahead and just ask them how it went and see what they say.

    * Get a grip rugby was always played in the winter months when the sport was better supported nowt like a pie or mug of oxo watching rugby in the winter. If people want to see your glorious land they do not need toronto wolfpack as an excuse to visit just ask all the UK fans who either dont want to travel all that way or cannot afford it thus denying lifetime supporters from watching their local team.

    4.   Rugby League grassroots development in the Manchester area (in conjunction with the local university)...junior development also same going on over here in the Toronto area.

    * Everyone like yourself keep harping on about grass roots level so why have you bought a team from everywhere but Canada. Development my ass it’s all about moneymen like yours continuing to ruin rugby league for the working classes.

    5.  A new role model for clubs looking to promote themselves in the new and modern times...TWP is way ahead here and others would be wise to watch, listen and learn.  Some clubs have done this and captured a new Spirit...others continue on their doomed march to oblivion...the choice is yours.

    * Role model dont make me laugh prime example Rowley probably the most hated coach in Rugby league and thats not because he is now at toronto. The vast majority of UK clubs do not have millionaires like toronto and if your idea of singing national anthems before every match and constantly showing pop up ads on live matches is promoting the game then its a sad day for rugby league.

    6.  Mass media exposure to both existing and new markets to grow the game for everyone who cares.

    * Dream on London has been spouting the same tripe for years it aint gonna happen.

*No funds at present but wait until Superleague clubs tire of the long trips and your adopted sugar daddy stops paying for flights and poor accommodation. At present you are killing the championship and I dont mean at rugby I mean the genuine lifelong diehard fans.

    8.  A free, all expenses paid trip overseas for PLAYERS and management from the other teams...consider it a plum of the job and a reward for your numerous years of effort.  Of course, free compliments of the Wolfpack!

*Yes thats been great this season by both denying the loyal championship fans a chance to watch their team and the strain on clubs part time players taking time off work for a few days in addition to the visa problems.

In a nut shell play rugby league in Canada by all means and I genuinely wish you all the luck in the world but stop hanging on to the UK coat tails please leave us alone and take your money elsewhere however you may just fit perfectly into the greedy Super league proposed new system if not have a word with your close neighbours in the USA.

  17. Surely we should get more than £50,000 for briscoe dependent on his current contract after all Graham Steadman went to Cas for £170,000 in 1989 and we bought him from york in 1986 for £55,000 ok things change but fev should get decent dosh. Leeds probably pay their top first team players £100.000 a year and god knows what Hardaker was on I guess around 6 luke briscoes.

Time will tell as all we can do is to guess whats going on as info for the paying supporters seems poor at best but business is business and things are kept close to the chest.

  18. Seems we are no longer in the dark and this statement may just give a clue as to why Luke has not been on the ball recently I do wish him every success at Leeds he has until recently been brilliant for Rovers just hope we got some cash for him my guess £80-100,000.

    https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/off-the-record-rugby-league-rumours-and-gossip-120/

     Briscoe will join Leeds permanently

Featherstone Rovers star Luke Briscoe is set to join Leeds Rhinos on a permanent deal from the 2019 season.

Last month, the prolific winger joined the Rhinos on a loan deal until the end of the season, but it is understood that Leeds are keen to make the move permanent. Briscoe equalled a consecutive try-scoring record this year after scoring in 17 games on the bounce for Rovers to equal Eric Harris’ accolade from 1937.

My, you are a jolly old sole, doom and gloom on this thread, 'nails in Fev's coffin' on another thread! The room must just light up when you walk in lol! If things are so bad then I don't expect to see you at another Fev game ever again as there is no point watching a set of losers, no hopers and with no chance this side of the millennium of things getting better !

Look Baldrick you obviously have a cunning plan with your ever the optimist attitude whereas I’m a realist and state the obvious based upon probabilities which I’m entitled to bearing in mind :

I have supported Fev since I was 3 years old firstly going with my Dad to Bradford and then to three wembley cup finals taking a private bus full of family members from the Doncaster area (bear in mind my mum and dad and relatives are from Featherstone) to see the rovers win and lose and donating part of my winning bet against Hull to the floodlight appeal.

I with other family members have been to virtually every rugby league ground in the country baring Cumbria to follow Fev so there maybe some genuine fans who wish to read honest posts from long standing supporters without people like yourself getting off in making personal derogatory  remarks when they do not share your crystal ball outlook.

Might I suggest you just stick to calling people lemmings when they do not have blind faith like yourself.

  20. With very little chance of a top 4 spot now most likely some players will be on their way out before next year so cannot see any new signings unless they were already agreed before the Halifax bash and I mean bash cos that is what Fax did to Fev on Sunday. Do not know what odds are for Fev to qualify but they must be a very risky bet heres hoping Im totally wrong and England win the world cup.
