  1. Think the black/white colours have more to do with the "Wolfpack" part, rather than the "Toronto" part of their name ..
  2. Would the reputation of Millwall fans put people off travelling? Wigan played a game there that was reasonably well attended.. They're going to watch an RL game, not a Millwall match.
  3. It's not too bad - But I don't think much has changed at all since the Broncos were playing there.
  4. I need zero evidence for it - You have claimed the British public don't know Tonga is a nation, I am not sure how you could possibly come to that conclusion. You can suggest who you think might be a "legitimate rival" but it doesn't mean anything. I have no idea what you mean by "genuinely representative team" and why a country being good at football or Olympics would have any affect on who the public thought was good competition for a Rugby League team. Jamaica are amazing in the Olympics, but there will be no one that would see them as a legitimate rival in Rugby League.
  5. Indeed - I mentioned I believe it was on the previous page or so on here that when I attended England Samoa for the WC Semi, there were a lot of England RU shirts on show - I can almost guarantee that they didn't come down the North to watch the game. There is a huge amount of people in London that want to watch the elite players in sport play, doesn't matter if it is RU, RL or Football, etc.
  6. I am not sure what geography is like in Canada, but people in the UK are very much aware of Tonga as a nation.
  7. Absolutely rubbish. People aren't stupid, they know who Tonga are. Every England game in London has sold. People understand that Tonga are a good team in Rugby League. Judging on what has been reported so far for the 3 venues they have chosen, you will not get a crowd bigger than you would have gotten in London. People in London want high class sport. They have come out in numbers numerous times for International RL, but we only get rewarded with 1 game in how many years? International RL is a joke, and the RFL are a joke for going "safe" with these venues, selling more RL to people that don't seem to be all that interested in it.
  8. Name the winning teams (1 point each): Castleford vs. Huddersfield Warrington vs. Catalans Wigan vs. HKR Salford vs. St Helens Leeds vs. Leigh Hull FC vs. Wakefield How many teams will score less than 10 points (1 point) 3 How many teams will score more than 30 points (1 point) 3
  9. Not even sure it is a "half assed way" anymore. It is just the Rugby League way.
  10. I would agree that in terms of professional boxing they are a "circus act" - But they aren't professionals, they're youtubers/influencers who have decided to take up boxing. If you are watching YouTuber boxing for the skill, then you're watching the wrong show. You watch it for the stories, which I guess doesn't translate so much for the "old guard" of boxing
  11. Yes, lets compare 5 years ago with the 1950's .. Really?
  12. Probably more weight than the countries that have never played in a WC before .. Your statement makes it sound like we have had numerous WC's since then, rather than just the one.
  13. I always assumed that most "high paying" jobs came with some kind of money in case of being fired, etc. (I am assuming a lot of these may have some clause for gross negligence, etc) Guess I am used to always seeing it in football when a manager gets sacked and gets millions in a payout to leave.
  14. Name the winning teams (1 point each): Huddersfield vs. Hull FC HKR vs. Castleford St Helens vs. Leeds Wigan vs. Leigh Catalans vs. Salford Wakefield vs. Warrington Which team will score the most points (1 point) HKR Which team will score the fewest points (1 point) Castleford
  15. Close game throughout where defenses were definitely on top, London were poor but Halifax certainly put in a good performance and didnt let us really try to get going. Lots of errors around the tackling area, so I guess the conditions helped 'Fax a bit.
  16. I mean.. People aren't saying they are bored of watching Wigan v Saints in a final, they are saying they are bored of watching Wigan v Saints. Yes, they may have only faced each other in a final 5 times in 20 years, but every season their matches are televised so you see it all the time. Other teams aren't on TV quite as often, so although they may play each other the same amount of times as Saints & Wigan, we (the public) don't get to see that with our 2 TV matches a week.
  17. Is that 3 English outside backs that the Roosters have signed for next season? Impressive
  18. Just happened to find this: https://www.rugby-league.com/article/61941/our-league-to-stream-ab-sundecks-1895-cup-semi-finals Both semi finals are being live streamed, with an early bird price attached. Hoping to make this my first live game of the season, just sorting out my Saturday plans!
  19. I am not sure how you could think people putting money into the game outside of the heartlands is bad.. I don't think Hughes thought to himself - It is either London or Oldham. Creating new and viable clubs outside of the heartlands is incredibly important in creating new pathways for people to get into the sport. London has produced numerous players that have gone onto play at various SL teams as well as a few that have played for England, including one that is being talked about as one of the talents of his generation as he heads to the NRL. The RFL should be looking at re-instating their development officers in places like London to get back to the participation levels RL had 10 + years ago in the Capital.
  20. I am sure you are happy with what you have, living in Leigh. Living in London - I am far from happy with what we have as a sport. We have zero full time teams playing outside of the North (not including France). Just because we have a few teams and clubs based close to where you live doesn't mean much when the rest of the country is totally oblivious to the sport.
  21. Are you suggesting that RL should just give up with trying to improve and get bigger, and should just be happy with the minority sport we are right now?
  22. It is called having the basics done before you can even think about doing any more. London has 1 "professional" club, that club is run like it is amateur and has been run that way for many years. If Hughes thinks that the club could never be economically viable, that is fine for him to think that, but he has shown he doesn't really know how to run a competent sports team. For however talented and amazing he is at, (what is it Oil Trading he does?) He doesn't know how to run a sports team. The Broncos were steadily improving when they had Lenegan involved, it was doing quite well when we were originally linked up to the Harlequins, since Hughes has taken more of a role the club has gone backwards. The Branson days were fine until he decided that RL was small time and he couldn't get money back out of it instantly, in those years we still went to the CC Final, and we had decent attendances at Charlton. My comment on social media is that if Hughes says that marketing doesn't work, but he also doesn't know that for a sports team to even think about building a fan base, it should probably have some avenue for communicating with potential fans, then we really are lost.
  23. I would say - Generally speaking yes, Marketing works. Does every type of marketing work for every type of business? Far from it. If you think that the Broncos have ever been marketed properly or correctly in its existence then I am not sure what to say. I am not sure if you are saying for them to pack it up or not now? They are sub 1k crowds, I am not sure how you could possibly gain any traction and start to gain more fans without marketing. The club barely has a working website, the twitter and facebook seems to be run by a volunteer who if he doesn't show up, then there is now social media output - This is basic marketing which barely costs a penny but they fail at the basics.
