Sorry am I the only who can’t understand how a team from another country would be able to build a substantial UK fanbase?

I assume the long term aim is to eventually play home matches in Canada?

How is this being financed? Especially considering the drop in TV money.

    Am I missing something?

It has no Canadian involvement whatsoever except perhaps investment by Perez. This is my understanding anyhow.

  2. Attended last nights NARL match Washington Cavalry vs Toronto Wolfpack at Lamport. Was well supported with the east side stand (cap.4600) only open due to covid protocols and attendance restricted to 2000. Very enthusiastic crowd out to support their hometown Wolfpack. Sat next to folks up from DC watching their son play for Ryan Burroughs team. Blake Wallace on the sidelines coaching with Burroughs busy on the field. Simon Gelder the kit man was enjoying himself so lotsa WP alumni in evidence. Sure hope NARL makes a go of it, I for one will be going all in on season tickets and kit and I am confident I wont be alone if this turnout is anything to go by.

Exactly that. I’ve been called out as not been a real fan…ironically by someone who’s been watching three years. Nothing wrong with a new fan base, just the opposite, it proves the club is selling its product well and I hope most newbies stick with the club through good and bad

I’ve seen the club die twice, seen us hammered at the likes of Rochdale Big Mick Nanyn scoring 5 or six that day, seeing us get smashed by 90 at Widnes with Phil Cantillon scoring six (I think). Seeing us get beat when been the Wasps at Gateshead Thunder when they’d not won in a year and a half by 50 points and stood at Ryedale Staduim/Huntington Stadium with 200 diehards there.

I’m saying we do love the club and support it by sticking with it over all them years.

and stuffing the all conquering Wolfpack at Bootham Crescent in 2017.  I recall talking to James Ford at Lamport stadium after the July 1st game when we had just clobbered you despite DFJ's hat trick and he said to me "that's fine but I reckon we will have you at home" which of course I dismissed but his prediction was correct. Hopefully the team that did the business for him then will show up before season end.

Quite, and there’s no guarantees that it’ll be any better next year. Covid is not going anywhere, there will be new variants popping up all the time and some will evade vaccines

and to think all of these 3rd and 4th waves and subsequent variants spreading could have been avoided if Governments across the world had just shut the airlines down from the start. Bailing out the airline industry would have cost peanuts  compared to what we're going thru now. Our dozy PM was asked to do this and did not think it was necessary.

Absolute disgrace that Toronto are not still in Super League, though how things would have gone with Covid I am not sure.

would have been a horror story..wonder how many clubs will not make it to 2022..?

  6. It was the Canada Day game July 1 ..Gav brought me a Knights shirt and I wore it to Lamport for the first 40 mins switching to my Wolfpack shirt for the second 40..good times at the pub beforehand, during the game and beer garden afterwards..cannot believe four years have gone by.

I’ll be there even if they’re playing in a field like  Clifton park or Heworth. No disrespect to either. Mentioned the big time Charlie’s after 3 games and got shot down

As a York fan from afar I only get to see bits and bobs of the games but I'm wondering where the team is that came to Toronto in second place in 2019, always gave us a game and beat us soundly once at Bootham Crescent. Hope it shows up soon..and if I was back in my old hometown I'd be showing up every week and cheering them on. Win or lose they are your Knights.

In comparison - In Canada, as of June 19th., the latest compiled data date, reveals that 22.07% of the population 12 years of age and up are fully vaccinated, and 75.33% have received their first dose.   Is there great reluctance in Australia to being vaccinated, or is it a failure by the Federal Government in procuring doses, or maybe a combination of the two?

and most of us think Canada's procurement and rollout has been a fiasco..what does that say about Oz?

  9. Gotta admit I thought, given the talent assembled, the club would be doing a lot better. Maybe split the fixtures with Toulouse and Fev but winning against the rest of the field. what's missing?..is it indeed abandoning wide open attack in favour of adhering to a rigid system as many of u have stated? anyhow watching as I am from afar I sure hope things come together for the Kneets. best of luck from Toronto.

Ok so lets now move on and regroup and back the lads to the hilt, if you can't get there then if HWD hospital is covering the match then lock onto it, the main commentator seems decent and respects both teams not like some other biased reporters,

tough one Rog but London were a SL club not too long ago so...

As we say in Yorkshire "That'll do".

Yes not bad at all, we play Sheffield on Friday night at Doncaster, a short turn around that will test them.

How are getting on managing to avoid the Covid.

    Cheers Roger.

we are doing OK but missing you lot. I keep an eye on Batley and York!
