  1. We read with interest what comments are mooted on what is an unofficial forum.

Our participation in this venture is to support the work of a group of rugby fans who have approached the club to ask for initial assistance in using the platform of an established semi professional RL club to help rekindle youth rugby in the epicentre of Allerdale - Workington.

To assist with initial interest we have opened up Workington Town, and Derwent Park as a potential host of this new fledgling club. We do not encourage 'approaching' other clubs players to play for this team.

But, if if those players approach the new club to play for them as it is more convenient or accessible to play or associate to this new club then it is their right to play where they feel is right for them.

We have consistently worked in schools in Workington for over 2 years and our initial findings indicated less than 2% of pupils were attached to clubs in the area. Less than 5% were even interested in playing for a club.

We asked the same year groups after sustainable coaching in these areas who would welcome the opportunity to play in their own Town ofvWorkington if there was a club, over 33% said they would like the opportunity out of classes in 6 Workington based schools or organisations to TRY the sport out.

This information is not related to damaging the current playing pool. These are potentially new players to RL.

Jamie Doran done a superb job in raising the interest in RL through his passion in delivery.

We see this information as indicators that there is a number of children who want to TRY the game out.

We have set KPI indicators as to what RL will look like for progression in next 2-3years.

Our interpretation is that if we carry on doing the same, being blind to what is needed then eventually we will falter, if we act and attempt and support change, we have a chance.

We ultimately understand that clubs outside Workington have thrived for 2 reasons.

    1. You are fantastic at what you do and are to be respected for what you have achieved.

    2. The fact that a Town of Workington has a population exceeding 30,000.

To not asssist a Town of that size in trying to get youngsters on the playing fields is simply not a progressive future.

There are youngsters who will play outside their residential area to play the game, hence strong participation numbers.

We hope, many new people/children will support the new venture.

If we dont act now, the future in relation to IMG is bleak, the players who want to progress won't have the opportunity to play pro RL in West Cumbria as we won't meet criteria. We either all work together or eventually we won't have a RL club to even discuss.

As mentioned, this is an unofficial forum, we welcome discussions on what people's opinion is and to discuss concerns.

To do that please email graemepeerstownrlfc@gmail.com

Thank you for all comments on this thread, it's heartening to see the passion of opinion about developing RL in Allerdale.

With that passion we can work together and move forward.

I look forward to receiving your comments on behalf of Workington Town RLFC.

We are the worst championship team ever .

It is going to take 3+ years to get anywhere near .

Club needs to look at its self from top to bottom.

Lots of hangers on bringing nothing and taking lots .

Look after the penny's and the pounds will take care of itself.

One example bill dobbie nothing to do with Cumbria game . Gained entry 20 min after game started with 8 guests never paid a penny .

This is incorrect information to be putting out on a public forum.

Pm WTRLFC account if you want clarification.

Like the look of the gear but will the shop have any stock in to try on before we order please ??

There will be an order placed to ensure stock is in shop pre xmas, with the more popular items indicated via preorder levels ordered stocked in adequate quantities.

Stock will be due in before Christmas, obviously if that item sells out we will restock but those orders will arrive after the xmas period.

    Hope that helps.
