  1. The wife called an ambulance for me last night as I took a bad turn, but I cancelled it and told her not until after the 26th. :D:D My son bought me a present for me to have during the game, ( I think it's a defibralator :D ) It's absoluely wonderful for all the fans to experience this chapter and I hope that during the week, you all understand that it is only through hard work and commitment that we are going to a final. Am I a bit miffed ? of course I am but I'm still a Rovers fan, I'm still committed to us winning and above all I want you all to give a bit of an extra shout for me, I'll be watching you all, but please don't make me laugh, because it takes my breath away :D:lol::D:rolleyes:
  2. Why worry about what our opponents are saying ? We want to generate as much enthusiasm as we can and so do they. The fact that we are discussing this on a public forum could lead to a suggestion that their statergy might be working. Don't let anything put on the web / forum by Halifax fans faze you or be a cause for concern. Just treat it as good natured banter and don't worry about how many fans we or they may bring. Remember there will be six teams playing that day and all will have a following even the Conference sides. Just enjoy the occassion, support the lads as we know you can and then get back to the clubhouse to celebrate the victory.
  3. Absolutely not, pal. Top bloke.

I also heard that he is a top bloke, so unless we really know, we shouldn't cast aspersions. The guy is a good honest rugby league player and as fans we should be happy that he feels he is bettering himself.

  4. I do believe you will have to ring the club up and ask, because tonight there was clarification been sought on disabled/carer issue.

The RFL do /did charge disabled fans and their carers are usually allowed in free . The charge is in relation to the disabled persons age/eligibility. Disabled tickets should be bought via the RFL and if required, parking spaces MUST be booked in advance. I believe the club would not be able to sell disabled fans tickets via their own resources. I have found the RFL to be first class in all their dealings about disabled fans, as have most clubs.

  5. By the way Bob did the bare lady on the horse have any tattoos? What was her name Bobiva? You see if you had paid attention to the game you would have saved your teeth.

I saw her on the hour every hour when stood in Broadgate Coventry, I have since been backing the horse every Saturday since, it still can't win. By the way The club played at Counden Road back when I was there, The Butts stadium is the former council athletic ground where David Moorcroft plied his trade and is home to the Coventry Bears.

  6. Sorry for goin off thread Vic, I'm sure many of our friends have met famous people . I once went to London with Robin and we walked up to Buckingham palace. I lost Robin in the crowd and stood there looking up at the balcony to see if the queen came out. At 12 o'clock the queen and her party walked onto the balcony and an American guy at my side asked who the fellow was at her side. i looked up and there was a distinguished looking gentleman in a uniform, I wondered who he might be, when the American said, " I mean the guy in uniform stood next to Robin !"
  7. i've got a "W" tattoo'd on each of the cheeks of my bottom. when i bend over, you get the title of this thread.

I've got the initials to Bed and Breakfast on my cheeks, I bend over it spells my name.

  8. Bob.....was it you on 'Brassed Off'?

I was in Brassed off in the club scene, in actual fact I was in charge of Frickley South Elmsall band at the time the film was being made ( 1994) We were on Calendar and edit 5 21 times during that year. Frickley pit was shutting and we lost our funding, The people making Brassed off came to see us but we had too many youngsters in the band and too many ladies. It was decided to go with Grimethorpe, who then used several players from other bands. In 1994 Frickley pit shut, but we battled on and went to London to the National Finals , we won and that followed the plot of Brassed Off. We then managed to get sponsorship from Sam Smiths and then Standard Fireworks. The band is still active today and goes from strength to strength.

  9. My heart will be there , does that count ?? :D My son his wife her mum and Dad are travelling up from Staffordshire, they are even staying the night before in Warrington so that they don't get delayed on the Sunday. The wife wants to go but she has to cook my dinner and make the bed and wash and wipe then shave me, shower me and indulge me by passing the remote control. It's a hard life for me isn't it. Extra oxygen has been ordered for when we win though.:lol:
  10. Don't worry Colin, we did ask for someone to take up the cudgel and you obliged. I wish I could have been there to help, I have replied to your p.m. and arrangements are being made to get a donation to Rob. I would also ask that any fan who couldfeels that Rob has done a great job with our pitch presentation this season, would also leave a small or large donation have been there to help. The pitch at Featherstone has never been easy to look after and those of us old enough to remember the early 50's and 60's know what a bog it used to be. Rob is not the best paid groundsman in the World but he treats the pitch with love and tenderness to such an extent that it looks to be one of the best in our league. Let's try and show our appreciation to him and thank him for his hard work. It might only be the cost of a pint each, but it will taste just as sweet as the real thing.
  11. I will send a cheque as soon as I can Colin, before the weeks out I hope. unless you want me to pay direct to your bank account on line in which case it would take three working days, when I have your details of which account you want it paying to Send the details by p.m or telephone me I will p.m my number.
  12. Many grounds now have computer programmed entrance gates etc. and as far as I know the visiting team can have conduct their own audit before the gates open and after they close. There are relevent expenses to be taken into account which are agreed upon, security , lighting etc. but as a rule clubs are satisfied, except when you play Catalans away and lose money because the French counting system "pairs" family ( e.g. a Dad and his two lads = 1 person) similar to their horse betting system.:rolleyes:
  13. Powell says he will be playing

    ROVERS ROVERS :D

I had five teeth knocked out in Biaritz ( France) whilst playing the rah rah game. I had to travel home for two days just drinking ( no toilet coaches in those days either) and then having surgery when I got back to the U K. I was playing within 10 days my gums were numbed whilst I played and believe me they were sore for about a month. Modern dentistry though can ease the problem and at least he can now take his time having new dentures fitted.

  14. Nice thought Bob. To extend that how about a Flat Commemorative Cap in blue and white to acknowledge deceased supporters who have contributed a lot to the club? People of the ilk of Norman Hodgson etc. It could be given to the family at awards night. Just a thought but it would be a nice acknowlegment.

Thanks for the replies and also the excellent suggestions, I believe that your idea is also a very good one Colin. If enough people are interested, I will put the thoughts to a board member to raise in their meetings.

I would also like to hear any objections not because I think you are wrong, but because we need to hear all fors and againsts.
