  1. I used to love the Challenge cup final on the BBC the build up the meeting of fans outside the ground, the storys which give an ibsight into the game it's fans and it's history. Now we get Waffle on the RED button no community singing, no watching the young lads have a game before the final, no sense of occassion with Abide With Me. Thrn we have to watch a game which is falling apart with more forward ( momentum) passes than an American football game. The main skill nowadays seems to be who can kick to the corners most accurately so that an attacking winger can score. Whatever happened to trys being created by good play ? I'm getting a bit disillusioned but I still love the game, it must be a habit. Warrington were worthy cup winners but what a boring final it was.
  2. Didn't the Halifax coach proclaim to the World that they were the best team " BY A COUNTRY MILE" last season, if so should he not have been investigated by the RFL for giving false hope to the Halifax fans ? I believe the RFL should launch a full and frank investigation as to how this man vcould be so deluded in his announcement. We all know that we have to win the Grand Final to prove to everyone that we had the best team this season, having the most wins, the least losses , the most points for the least points against, is obviuosly superficial and only NOW does the contest beigin.

    BRING IT ON !!!

  3. Just someone who is a pedantic, jealous bore. Don't worry as League leaders we ARE champions, we have finished FIRST in the league, we now have to emulate that in the play offs, all anyone has to do is look at the league table, the points for and against, the jealousy of other fans from other clubs. I don't care what anyone else things Featherstone Rovers Are CHAMPIONS. Let the small minded think whatever they wish.
  4. It's absolutely wonderful, and the inclusion of replays makes the DVD so professional. Steve has always done a great job, but the help given by Jamie has enhanced the recording to make it so good. A very (un) biased commentary by Martin ( I know how hard a job that is ) compliments the whole production. If you haven't got it, then believe me it epitomises the hard work done behind the scenes to bring you such a worthwhile production. Well Done all concerned and I can't wait for next seasons crop.
  5. You'll be there Bob. You might not be able to shout as loud as some but you'll be there with all the right thoughts for the club. (Have you thought about connecting a voozewotsit to your air bottle!)

Deal Paul and yes Mr Johnson I had a vuvazula attached to my air bottle but my wife got fed up of me blowing it, unfortunately where she shoved it, makes a louder noise, but I just look round hoping someone else will take the blame.

I desperately wanted to make the Barrow game, but I have to be guided by others. The presentation of a mascot when children enter the ground is a profound statement and the club needs to utilise that by making sure the children are well looked after. The Bucaneers do a great job and this is part and parcel of our future plans. I haven't managed too sponsor a mascot this season, but I will make sure that I make up for it next season after all we were all children once .

  6. Harlequins RL are in the wrong area for me, they should be in South London where there are more amateur clubs.

They've been there and done that ( Charlton, Crystal Palace, Fulham) My relations live in Putney a stones throw away from Twickenham and know very little about the club. They have visted Post Office Road more times than RU headquarters or the Stoop. I am still bitter and I still can't forgive, but Ourselves and Widnes were thrown to the Wolves to make way for Paris St. Germain and London. We are still going strong, London are in their third stanza as Stevo would say, Paris blew away with the breeze and surrended , oh for expansion when it puts clubs and communities out of business. the tough are still here, but until we speak with an Aussie/American accent we'll just have to stay where Mr. Murdoch wants us. I have long had the belief that the RFL don't run Super League, the TV company does!

I now await the reply of preposterous!

  7. The players required have to fit in with the present squad, many players do well with certain coaches as their game plans work out for them, it's not just how good/bad a player is, it's more about can that player fit into our game plans or do the job I want them to. I would have though Mark Smith might be one that could fit in, also remember that James Ford was told to look for another club before he got injured. I like James (as a player and a friend), but I don't believe he would fit into our game plans either now.
  8. When we spoke at the Sheffield game I didn't realise tha Paul was the nemesis of Bluebeard, after all Bluebeard is good looking and Paul is a Libra like myself . It is always a pleasure speaking with you Paul/Bluebeard. The mascot is a very important part of the club, especially for the children it might be that you need a bit more meat on the legs or perhaps a new pair of breeches, but anyway, well done Paul and thank you for taking on such an important role, Maybe next season I'll be able to speak with you for longer, because I'm positive that I will be there again. :D:D
  9. There are many reasons for being a Rovers fan, like you Matthew I was influenced by my Dad, I hope that since then I have also managed to influence my family and friends. It's not always the well publicised things which are important, it's the feeling of being a part of it which is special. All our fans can take pride in THEIR achievements this season, even those who felt we would stuggle a bit. They are all part and parcel of our support group. I agree we need to improve our gates greatly, and my belief is that the club are doing that in a very controlled way. I hope the 5,000 who want tickets for the Grand Final from us, are told you can only have a ticket if you buy one for our first home game next season, ( season ticket holders exempt)Perhaps that's not enforceable but who knows. The club has a great heart and I could spend all day giving platitudes about the help, and encouragement I have received this season from them.

We may not be the biggest club in the World, but by golly we are ( in my opinion) the very best

    Long may that continue.

  10. I'm hopeless at this type of thing ( I'm too old to learn) but try My Controls then personal profile. Look across and see your ICQ UIN name and try to change it to what you require. It may or may not work. However Cliff if you have changed your e mail then re-register with the new e mail address and a name of your choice.
  11. If anyone can organise a collection, please contact me so that I can contribute. The pitch at Rovers was a quagmire when I was a youngster although we did play through harsh winters. It has never been an easy pitch to look after but I agree that visitors to the ground look at the pitch and that set's the catalyst for the stadium. Rob works as a volunteer on many Rovers projects, he has put players up in his own home to save the club money. He works with Study Rovers and above all he is very much respected throughout the Rugby League World. Rob is the "Salt of The Earth" and has been a mainstay longer than most people realise. If we can't give him money perhaps we could raise enough to get Mick to do a charicature of him for posterity.
  12. I don't think there will be any problem for the final tickets ( when we get there ) The only niggle I had at Leeds for the final a couple of years ago, was that people who hadn't been to a Rovers match for several years, had better seating than most regulars. I had to sit in front of Old Rover, but more importantly he had to sit behind me, and there was more of me then, than now. :D:D

Let's just get there and worry about tickets after that, I can't go so there's one going spare

  13. To do the things which have brought us so far this season. try to complete the sets and to be wary of the Halifax counter attack. They will no doubt give a good kicking game as usual. It is never easy, but so long as the players stick to what they do well, we should/WILL prevail
  14. Think its a non starter Al, not one person at the club has defeat in their vocabulary, it's been washed out of them...... i was asked on Sunday if Bluebeard needed a lift to Warrington on finals day........... they aren;t being cocky or over confident either, they honestly believe we will win the grand final.......... and by god do i hope they're right

I'm hoping that it will be a very happy birthday for both of us Paul.

  15. Both teams to take it easy today B) dont want to risk any injuries do we both :P

Fev by a fair few

    already 38 =6 hyt

you can get hurt trying o take itasy

    ]
  16. Only sad part of article is the total failure to mention the Featherstone Lions Major Part in Both Zaks and Sams development , ie they both went straight into the first team after only 6 months with all their Youth Development done at the Lions

Funny how people seem to forget the grass roots when it suits

Credit where it's due and of course over the years many good players have come from the Lions, travellers and Jubilee clubs. I think Tom Briscoe and Rob Burrow being the most high profile . Perhaps it is about time that the Lions had a piece written about them and their work in developing young lads might be in order. Have you thought about submitting a piece to the editor ?

  17. Well if the mystery player was to erm....... say get caught speeding ....AGAIN he'll be banned from drivingfor passing 12 points so i imagine he'd have to play locally....... hypothetical of course B)

Barrow would have loved another 12 points, but it shows that what I have always felt about one man bankrolling a team is true> They can walk away when they want without any safety net for the team. Dick Raaz at Whitehaven is a lovely guy, but how long will he keep dipping into his pocket. John Chadwick at Blackpool has had to take the club back over as the bloke who took over from him became tight fisted. I'm not saying it's wrong to have a one man team, but it is fraught with danger. Luckily for Leigh Arthur Thomas is a commited Rugby League fan who I know , won't walk away.

  18. Does anyone know if Play Off finals tickets will be available from the club, if (when :D ) we make it through, or only through the RFL.

Don't want to put the mockers on us getting there, but I'm working away through September, and want to make sure that should we be there, that I can get hold of tickets, and be where everyone else is in the ground to soak up the atmosphere....

WE need to get there first and when we do tickets will be available from the club.

  19. we all know its gone on for years boosting attendances apart from when it's a shared get then it miraculously falls To boost our attendance for next year give out free tickets to the army garrison in catterick and let them come and support the armies team! 2k a game should do it :ph34r::ph34r:

Any member of the armed forces who attends either in uniform or with their MOD pass is admitted free of charge to Rovers anyway, but at least you are looking at the equation and every suggestion could be the one we need.
