  1. Front page spread and two more columns on page 4 showing artist impression of c#s propsed new ground very pretty. Where's our's come on BOD get something out there and show our near neighbours and the rest of the rl we mean business its all right showing plans at chesneys but its time to put the wind up all the teams hoping for the green light in next round of franchising

Both Castleford and Wakefield are fighting to retain their places in Super League, both know they are on sticky wickets. Both clubs issue statements, which at some point have to be backed up after the last debacle. We don't need to expose our plans yet, ( certainly until after 26the September 2010) Why give our opposition even a glimpse of our future ? We have one, do they ???

  2. I think it's only fair for me to give the Whitehaven chairman the right to reply but other options are available should it be necessary if no reply is forthcoming.

Dick Raaz (chairman) is an American, so expect some Bull excretia in reply, even the Radio Cumbria commentator is connected to the club and he thought nearly all our trys were dubious. It is sad when these things happen especially as I always enjoyed visits to Cumbria. Behaviour such as this will allienate visiting fans and isolate the professional teams even more.

  3. I had a call from the club reminding me that I would be most welcome to come on Sunday and do you know what ? I'm coming no matter what, I won't be able to travel to the Grand Final if we get there so Sunday is my celebration of a very sucessful season, no matter what happens. we should all do our best to be there and remember it's free for ladies and there's a race night straight after.
  4. This was sent via the administrators:-

My brother will always be in my mind I just can't believe that he is no longer with us.

    Tony Dooler

Our deepest condolences go out from all at the Rovers forum.

  5. I'm pleased that the entertainment is taking off, there have been many shows at the clubhouse which have been undersold. Yet it is a very good venue to hold these functions. I know the club try hard and a few years ago almost managed to get Al Martino ( Blue Spanish eyes etc ) on stage. All we need is a hotel to put drinkers up overnight and we will be complete. Still well done to all concerned.

I met a dyslexic Cas fan who tought he was Elvis but he just gave me the Evils.

  6. Is this the progress we have made. Manu and Richards for England. This is not progress. It's MADNESS!. I'm sorry but all you people who think SL is working, you are living in a self delusional world of your own. It plainly is not.

Spot on, and clearly the Dual registration system is also slowing talent down. If the young lads were nutured properly they wouldn't need to be farmed out, but how do you leave an overseas player out to accomodate a good youngster ?

  7. Before we get embroilled in the Bosman ruling, it must be remembered that the Bosman ruling only involves trade between EU countries, therefore the Aussie, NZ and South sea island players are exempt to this ruling.

You are correct Andrew, however, my point was that many players nutured by British clubs were sold to raise funds . I believe the last worthwhile sale was Karl Pratt to Leeds we lost out on Andy Baily Richard Whiting and Jamie Rooney. These sales helped keep money within the British game, now the money comes from SKY and out through Oceana.

DMS I agree with your synopsis and as a good union man I have to concur, however, I put this forward as a reason for clubs buying in short term overseas players rather than developing their own and losing them at the end of their contracts.

  8. Straight after the Sheffield game there is a testimonial race night being held on behalf of Jamie Field. Now it is quite possible that the club will be celebrating anyway ( although we won't count the chickens) but I wanted to personally remind you that Jamie is one of the reasons we are in the position we find ourselves. His commitment to Rovers when he could have gone to other clubs, helped the foundation of our recent success. I hope all that are able can stay behind to celebrate and to enhance the lads testimonial fund. Also to wish him every success for the future.
  9. ON paper it should be a Rovers win, but apart from last season, when has it ever been easy to win at the Recreation ground ? Whitehaven have pride and will not lie down easily, but if Rovers play as they can, it should be another three points, complacency will not raise it's ugly head.
  10. Whilst I agree about the amount of overseas players and the quality of them playing in this country has had a diverse effect on standards. I still believe that the BOSMAN ruling is one that has killed not just smaller rugby league clubs, but sports management and transfers as a whole . It has destroyed the will of clubs to develop players to a standard which wpould have brought an income and possible financial success. Before BOSMAN, we didn't have so many imports in all sports.
  11. This is always a great night out and for the first time in 15 years I won't be able to go, I would, however, encourage all who can go to do so and show the lads your support means you are happy with what they have achieved this season.
