I feel the wonderful comms that the club presents including George's great live commentary of all games on Roughyeds TV and the tries often being shown on social media within minutes of them being scored and the highlights being available the following day with the match in full a couple of days later is a huge reason why people stay away.
I appreciate it's all part of picking up IMG points (whatever that means) and is fantastic for fans who live overseas or a long way from Oldham, but it's just too attractive for local folk too.
And they save £20 or £24 (on the day) - no wonder people think twice.
Back in Halstead's day, you had to wait until the Monday Chron to read all about it - then it really was important to attend if you were a keen fan. Talking of Roger, how good to still see him at matches to this day!

How long is Moran with you for? I thought he signed a two-week loan, that was three weeks ago! Has it been extended?

Guess who's scoring a try for New Zealand Warriors against Manly in the 2011 NRL Grand Final (at 4:50). Up the Wahs!

Not being funny, but wtf has this got to do with Rugby League?

I will always and forever be a 'Roughyed'.
BUT, if we are forced to change our famous & historic name then I would suggest an acknowledgment to VULCAN Street which co-incidentally is very, very, near to our spiritual home of Watersheddings.
So, how about Oldham 'VULCANS' ? ?
Just think of the huge marketing potential we would have with that name !
Herbert Street was very close to 'Sheddings too
UP THE YEDS!

Need to be sure who is contracted for next year already - I might be wrong here but I think those already tied up are Iain Thornley, Ben Davies, Riley Dean, Josh Drinkwater, Gil Dudson, Zane Musgrove, Matty Ashurst & Adam Milner.
Everybody else is out of contract & free to sign elsewhere or be released.

Open to too much pi$$-taking in my opinion - stick to Oldham RLFC - the mighty Roughyeds!
St Helens are still St Helens RFC (never been sure why they're not RLFC) , with Saints as their traditional nickname.
And as for the Bears, well that ended well didn't it!
UP THE YEDS!

He has a dead leg but is named in a squad of 19 only this weekend for Widnes
Widnes lost 4 players to injury against York - Owens, Gilmore, Johnstone & Hall (formerly Lewis Charnock of this parish) - which perhaps partly explains how an 18-0 lead became an 18-36 defeat! We play them a week on Sunday of course.

Could explain why Moran & Farnworth have been kept match-fit on dual-reg. They'll probably come back in to the reckoning now (Farnworth already did at Toulouse).

Have a wonderful weekend Yeds fans, wish I could be there, but work commitments mean I can't. Great memories of Pub O'Clock & The Melting Pot from a previous trip.

Spot on about the ref unfortunately she was out of her depth. But we were beaten by a better drilled side. We need Riddy on the park.
In my experience seeing Tara Jones referee (a former Saints & England international it should be said) she is an excellent ref & a lot better than some of her male colleagues in League One!

Excellent ball-playing 13 in the early days of the reformed club. Bless.

Just saw Ben Forster played on dual-reg for Hornets yesterday.

These signings are not the right way going forward in my opinion, but I do agree we can only assess when we know the full squad.
We need a much more even balance next season, we can't go on with guys the wrong side of 30 in every key position. I just hope there are more keys like Farnworth in the pipeline who is in my opinion, our best forward by a mile. Young, aggressive and hasn't spent long spells unfit.
If Lomax came in to play full back with Drinkwater at 7, that's two of the three key positions in our attack that would be lacking the energy and speed Featherstone beat us with at the weekend. PLT for all his faults at least frightens a defence with how quick he is.
In a league we can't get promoted from, there's no reason not to be promoting younger players.
I'm sure he won't be coming to play full-back, more likely 6 with Josh at 7.

I'm not a Latic's fan but well done, great achievement and hope all goes well at Wembley
Bit concerned though that at the Hunslet game away on June 1st I'll be "billy no mates" and the only Oldham away fan there as everyone else will be at Wembley. If I am I'll do my best to shout out and encourage the lads
I'll be there mate, I'll look out for ya

I think drinky was a one year deal so likely to move on
Unlikely, I think DC seems almost surplus to requirements this season, which I find very strange tbh

And to add to that very good and informative piece TPH. To keep that particular referee quiet with the penalties says a lot for the discipline. He is usually on the ball with any slight discrepancies and speaks volumes in itself for both teams points of view.
As an Oldham fan, I thought the referee was outstanding , the best I've seen for a long time. No perpetual blowing up, which says a lot about the discipline of both teams, but also about his performance.

As a Yeds fan not from Oldham, and therefore not a Latics fan, and as much as I am pleased the two clubs have a healthy working relationship these days, I can't for the life of me help feeling very envious of them - and wishing so much it was us!
Up the Yeds!

What Sunday's game has done is set up the semi very nicely! I trust you guys & gals will travel in much greater numbers next time & hopefully the Joe Royle stand will be full to capacity.
Will the narrow defeat on Sunday give Fev greater motivation to win? Or will the fact that we were fortunate not to lose wipe out any complacency that might have existed in the Oldham camp?
It's going to be an exciting few weeks as the build-up to the match gathers momentum - bring it on, after several Challenge Cup semi-final defeats on neutral grounds over the years, we are now at home in a semi as the Holy Grail (for Oldham fans) awaits the winners.
A few prayers will be said in Oldham the night before the game
So our Saturday night prayers weren't answered
Congrats to Fev on a near-perfect performance on Sunday, I doubt we'd have got close to you even with a full team out.
Best Wishes for the final, always been a lot of respect between our two clubs.

RFL Strategic Review
in Oldham RLFC

The latest I heard is that SL will remain at 12 clubs next year, with either Toulouse or York replacing Salford.
