Brierley is a interesting one as on the wing he looked really uncomfortable and unsure of himself. The last two games were dead rubbers but he was excellent when moved to full back.

I didn't think Brierley looked uncomfortable at all on the wing, but agree it would be good to see him get an extended run at full-back next year.

A few years ago he had conversations with a group of fans regarding the situation at the club. Once these discussions got to a certain point these were halted. Clifford on this forum was one of the fans involved in this group.

So with respect, what makes you think Clifford and his mates were the answer to all the club's problems? Perhaps Chris Hamilton thought otherwise?

I don't think he's Mr popular among some at Oldham. Some of his behaviour in the past leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know Chris Hamilton personally, but he deserves more respect than what some people say about him on here. Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'some of his behaviour' mate?

oldham where kicked out of boundary park i wonder why.

from 2002 to2009 they played at hurst cross ashton and then got  kicked out of there i wonder why.

then there was trouble with the oldham council  at whitebank before avro took it over.

The club were at Hurst Cross one season only! Once again Tandle you are talking ######. Does it cross your mind that Latics might have wanted too much money when the rugby left?

    Surely, someone MUST know something!

We are now the poor relations with the Hairnets getting everything in place. Ground, decent coach, a playing squad getting better (Rangy Chase), strong links with the junior game and above all else a committee working together so as to make a success of their club.

We've got NOWT - just memories.

The Hairnets as you call them are HALFWAY DOWN LEAGUE ONE ffs!!!  They were taken to the cleaners by North Wales Crusaders at the week-end, who says their coach is decent, their league position suggests otherwise, Chase has been past his best for years. Why are folk on here so negative all the time, frustrates me!

Unless you're a closet Hairnets fan on here to stir the s**t?

  6. I been thinking, since we beat Newcastle Thunder in the 2019 Promotion Final, our club has had nothing but BAD LUCK, none of its own doing. All clubs experience it from time to time, but surely not like us! Consider all this:-

2019 - Scott Naylor and Pete Carey resigned as coaches, Richie Hawkyard chose to leave, Zack McComb chose to sign for Sheffield, Paul Crook retired as a player, Scott Law & Emerson Whittel went to Australia, Kyran Johnson picked up a very bad injury against Thunder & hardly played again, Dec Kay never played for the club again, match-winner Jimmy Beckett returned to his parent club. The lateness of the final meant that many talented & experienced Championship players had already been snapped up by other clubs.

2020 - Matt Diskin, a fabulous Super League player, and experienced Championship coach, was appointed but sadly that didn't work out ultimately with Matt leaving the club mid-season in 2021, COVID struck and our club was effected more than most due to the terrible illness suffered by Brendan Sheridan, the squad being put together for 2021 post-COVID was decimated before a ball was kicked when 3 players, two of whom were key players, Cam Leeming, Ed Smith and Matty Wilkinson, were ruled out indefinitely (Leeming and Smith were forced to retire as players, Wilkinson was ruled out for the whole year).

2021 - In the first pre-season match Phil Joy picked up a bad injury and has missed much of this year, new signing Ben Heaton started well but was then injured and has missed much of the year, Jack Croft was brought in on a season-long loan but was badly injured in his second game after scoring the winning try against Halifax in his first, Louis Senior came in on loan but was recalled by his parent club after one game, some players have failed to live up to expectations as Championship players, as a result of all the injuries too much has been asked of the young players brought in as cover in the main.

So there we have it, it's a tough gig in the Championship and a club like ours needs a bit of luck. We have had none!

  7. Somebody mentioned Matty Wilkinson, he's been a massive miss for us this year, as well as Gregory & J Abram have done. Be great to have Matty back hopefully next year. I don't think there's a single player in the squad who couldn't do well in League 1, the jump to the Championship is vast. We do need 2 good experienced halves though obviously.

I hope that someone at the club is baking a few cakes.

Today is Riley Dean's 20th birthday whilst tomorrow Lewis Carr is 21 and our esteemed stand off, Paul Sykes, is 40.

At last the average age of our half backs on Sunday will be only 30, assuming Dean and Sykes play.

Have a word with Mandy !!  But if it's donuts you want, I'm your man 🙂  🙂

There is the famous Fijian Ratu family who all played for Rochdale Hornets.

Mike Ratu (1965) his son Mike Ratu (1980ish) and his son Mike Ratu (2012ish)

That sounds like the answer to a quiz question! If so, the question must've been 'Can you name 3 generations of the same family who played professionally for the same club?' OK Yeds fans, have we got any who did that? Oh and they all have to have the same first name too 🙂  🙂

roby is not a half back or centre he is a winger or full back, he is a descent player but its seasoned half backs we have always needed from the word go.

The Widnes website/Twitter feed describes Roby as 'centre Lloyd Roby'. They should know.

Well given the players who went from Dewsbury were Nelmes and Reilly......

Nelmes and Reilly have both been great for Oldham this year, but Reilly especially. I think he'll be our Player of the Year, so it surprises me that they would want to return to Dewsbury.

Oldham are the worse side I’ve seen at mount pleasant this year... swinton throw the ball about etc good side

Oldham have spent more on players than Batley and dewsbury in 2021 and certain players are asking Batley and dewsbury if they can come back

Any names about players who want to leave Oldham & go back?

  14. As an Oldham fan, you should be aware our performances have been excellent in the last 2 games, very unlucky to lose at Whitehaven & to London Broncos on Sunday. I feel a win is just around the corner, we desperately need to beat Swinton this Sunday though. If we lose, its probably curtains but if we win & you lose at Whitehaven, it's game on!

You're favourites to stay up obviously with 5 points more than us, but it could just get interesting. I'd love to come to your place on the final day just a point behind you 🙂

    Hi Jimmy

Nope we are not I have many a run in with tandle.

I am just really fed up with the position we are in. I know that this squad could and should have won more games but haven't.

The bottom line is don't get points for nearly winning or Improving performances. The history books don't record that we played well it records wins losses or draws.

I am looking at our position from a former players perspective, you don't extra cash for losing within 11 points anymore and it's not rugby union with bonus points for losing within 7.

I am really fed up with at looking up at every club from a poor position. clubs should be looking up at oldham but those days have certainly gone for now

    Hi Cliff

    How are you?

You're right, of course, we need a win for sure! But the performances of the team at Whitehaven & against London Broncos needed to be applauded & the fans on here were right to feel upbeat. Don't forget though, we're not looking up at every club, there are several in League One in worse positions than us.

i suggest jimmy donut you go to squad for 2021 page 4 and scroll down to what i posted on the 16th of sept.2020 before any matches had even been played then tell me if i was right or wrong.

Blimey Tandle, took me ages to find that!!!  You said 3 of our players weren't of Championship standard, fair enough, I don't disagree with you on that. But dare I say, you seem to take some masochistic pleasure from being proven right? If I had made that prediction I would have loved to be proven wrong. Anyway, we'll agree to disagree, we both have the club at heart, so let's get behind the men at Swinton on Sunday & maybe, just maybe, it will kick-start a thrilling end to the campaign.

i have some times been at odds with clifford and roughyed 34 but they  are true supporters.

you are clutching at straws relegation is now out of oldhams hands lose on sunday and the end of  pro. rugby in oldham.

i have been supporting oldham since 1949 and this season as been a disaster from the word go

Tandle, it's not out of Oldham's hands yet, win on Sunday and (if Dewsbury Rams lose at Whitehaven) we are just 3 points behind the Rams, with 6 games to go (and we have to play them yet).

The end of pro rugby in Oldham - you're just guessing & surmising.

Disaster from the word go - well, we did beat Swinton in the first league game 🙂

I take my hat off to you if you have supported Oldham since 1949, some achievement that, but supported is the key word. Don't waste all those years of support by turning against the club now, the worry is some people will take your views on board.  We're all disappointed with how things have gone this year, but will continue to support the club in whatever ways we can.
