Believe it or not it was April Fools Day….the final game at the old Athletics ground and Hornets dressed a player called Idle…You could t make this up.

I was there, I remember it well, not long before our Old Trafford game against Featherstone, happy memories

    58-6 1988.

Burke, Atkinson, Foy, McAllister, Meadows, Walsh, Ford, Sherrat, Sanderson, Waddell, Casey, Graham, Warnecke, Subs: Irving, Hawkyard

Some real bad refereeing that day.

Anita, at first glance, I read that as the 58th of June, 1988. I thought 'she's' finally lost the plot !!! 🙂

And a stream train going past making a smog over the pitch and the ref calling it off, with minutes to play and losing the final reply.

    Oh yes that's already happened

Or a try awarded against us when the guy's over the deadball line or one of ours disallowed because our wingers offside (not) 🙂

  4. I just went into X and I couldn't find the account this was on. Is it possible this is a fake account? I just cannot imagine Mr H going public with such stuff?

Have we signed players from Oldham because they consider that they have better prospects at Rochdale or were they discarded by Oldham?

You've signed some good lads from us. They might not necessarily have fitted in to the new regime's plans for this year at Oldham, but they'll all do good jobs for you.

All through the close season my League Express has arrived early on a Monday morning. Not via the Post Office as it's not in an envelope, just the paper through the day just like the paperboy used to do in the old days. This week, when I'm so looking forward to reading about our fantastic result yesterday there is no paper.

Anyway, for those that know us, we will be back to watch the boys. We've had a few bad years looking after Dad with his Alzheimers and dementia. He passed away in July which, to be honest, was a relief not least to him. Anyway Sue had her birthday on New Year's Eve then, on the Wednesday following, she slipped in the garden and broke her left tibia. She can't even try to put her foot down for another few weeks let alone put any weight on it.

Quick question for when we do come back; are we going to be able to park the motorhome at BP? Just sometimes it would be nice to make a weekend of it rather than the five hour round trip in a day.

Here's one of me, literally, flying the flag during the World Cup

Chris, All the very best to you and Sue, will be great to see you back at the rugby soon. Take care mate .

  7. For anyone thinking this will be easy, a touch of realism is required. Halifax are the holders & won't give it up lightly. They are a very good side with classy backs especially. If we do happen to win, it will be massive in every way, in terms of building the public interest even more, not to mention being a step on the road to the Holy Grail that is Wembley.

What a game. And what a crowd. Testament to the mighty Colin Hawkyard. A fighter. A gentleman. A Roughyed.

Had a tear in my eye watching that video clip.

  9. Mick Worrall deserves a mention here, as do Ray Ashton & Paddy Kirwan. Great players in a very different era for the game. In the CH era, my favourites were John Hough, Keith Brennan, Danny Langtree, Lewis Palfrey, Richard Lepori, Lucas Onyango & Neil Roden.
