Swinton have a win ratio of 80% and Crusaders 75%. If we go up above these teams it would be a farce

Teams with lower win rates/points have been promoted over teams above them in RL and football for years.

  2. Well done to all the players and coaching staff for achieving the season's goal of making the play-offs. Also a first win for a while against a RL heartlands team so well done for getting that monkey off us backs. Win or lose next week, the last few weeks have provided an upbeat end to the season.

in my opinion a better player than paul was his brother danny,

a brilliant ball player in the brian mctighe mold

when ever he played against oldham he slaughtered us.

but sadly he was very injury prone and a diabetic but a class act.

As good as Danny was he clearly wasn't a patch on his brother.

The major issue by playing at BP is the 400 Hardy souls in the main stand will have an effect that we have no support in a massive stadium at least at whitebank 400 people looks full.

Also would 400 cover the cost of the ground stewards etc.

Think there needs to be a vast improvement on the playing front before moving to BP.

The fact is it doesn't look cost effective

    Bludey 'ell Cliff!!

    Here is my view.

We were relegated from the championship after employing a massive name who was suppose to be able to work his magic and failed. The question is would his fees been better invested in building a squad of players all signed up for 2022 as opposed to 80% of the squad leaving maybe.

Now come next month how many of the 2022 squad will be here in 2023 not many. So how do you build a culture when you lose at least 80% of your squad each year. You can't

In my opinion you need to have the vision to  sign players on 2 or 3 year deals that cannot be broken in order to build a squad with pride passion in the shirt the club and the ethos.

If we don't then we will be stuck in the bottom reaches of professional rugby league

You make it sound so simple Cliff - perhaps replace the word 'vision' with 'money'!!

It's a shame some donut know how to have a smile.

I suppose watching Oldham this, and last season, destroys any sense of humour.

    BUT NOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!

At our club's expense though pal, not funny ffs in these difficult times.

Agree. That is the reality of the situation and the difficulties of running a club in League 1 shouldn't be under estimated.

Looking at the costs involved with away travel to the West Wales and Cornwall games alone, there's a lot of expenditure to contend with.

Of course, on top of that, outgoings throughout a season include rent of the ground, contract payments to playing, coaching and backroom staff, the fee for the matchday doctor, stewarding costs, player nutrition and matchday food and plenty more.

With the central funding from the RFL also cut by 85% for this season, thank goodness for the sponsors!

Well said Logic, the doom merchants on here really have no idea at all.

Haha I was one of those 😂

Why though Charlie? I think I know who you are (from your pic) & you're a legend of a fan. So why you turning your back on them? The laughing face just seems so sad especially when it comes from you.

just think of all the oldham born players who made it in life.

    and some local business men.

we could have a board of rugby nolage and finance and a reserve side at greenfield.

a ready made set up in oldham.

    wtf is nolage?

God knows what will happen. After skolars and swinton, who knows. Hoping for the best, not expecting anything tbh. Can't be disappointed that way

Let's not bracket the Skolars and Swinton games as similar. There was a massive improvement in performance and effort against Swinton - a match on another day we might have nicked - compared to the debacle in London.

I never know whether to come on the forum to give you my pennyworth - some supporters like it, others not. That said, despite a poor start to the season on the field we are excelling in my opinion, in 'off field' initiatives.

''On Field' - theres money on the table to strengthen the squad and we have been working hard to secure target players -  easier said than done tho. I have good relations with SL and Champ clubs and believe me, they are struggling with availability themselves.

We are now past this ridiculous run of fixtures dates (stop start) and now hopefully we can get some continuity and momentum.

Fri night fixture in London - SL no issue, but L1?? really?? and this on the back of a two none game weekends in May..

Tomorrow, we are back to the drawing board, to ensure that our fightback is guttsy and determined.

    Oldham's season starts now !!

Hi John, I think 100% you should come on here to give the club view. Always good to hear from you.

That’s a really good win. Especially keeping Cornwall scoreless. We’re seeing the benefit of being able to play the same team every week now.

    Can't play Cornwall every week mate !!   🙂   🙂   🙂

    I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere ?  🙂
