Just a shame Towns supporters opinions appear to be being ignored. I hated the games at BP its a #######.

Its a big con this - Lure Town in to a deal and buy lease back for DP with plans for a real [Proper] stadium and then renege on deal and keep the #### ground that is BP. with one new stand , 3 #### remaining terraces and no room for anything else. And get rid of the better of the 2 grounds.

The same new stand at DP on one of ends etc would leave you with 2 grandstands and a proper covered terrace of which  any one of those better than anything at BP.

Cant see why the council think doing up the poorest and smallest of the grounds is the way forward.

Just for curiosity the Councillor/Mayor H Briggs isn't the same H Briggs at reds ???

JUST wait now for the 4 Amigos [Rockerlad, townie88, Route66 and dkw] to bite - same 4 that argue when any one from Town challenge them on this topic  and all "like " each other when anything good said about BP -

While I agree with you just doing one stand up and not touching the rest is a poor effort, I can't believe that will happen. It just says that's what the cash with ABC adding a million will fund.

Rather than chucking all your toys out of the pram now, why don't you wait until the full plan is published then we can all make our judgements based on facts and not just assumptions?

I'd be gutted if we end up a ground that looks like a bus shelter looking at the undeveloped Borough Park existing stands, but both teams boards are involved so I'm cautiously optimistic it won't be that. Dave Bowden didn't do a lot wrong when he was at Town and our BOD are doing a good job so why would they settle for something not fit for purpose especially when it means us leaving our home ground?

Sigh, I'm not going through this again but the majority of the figures you used there to highlight all the negatives were proven to be wrong when Jenkinson used them to push his ###### agenda.

Yeah that's right. I can remember him being challenged at the time to publish some kind of stress test that he said was used to test the figures. Although he said he would do it he never did, but it didn't matter because he just kept repeating that it it would cost 90 million and that made the headlines and what people believed. I won't break the confidence of someone who told me, but the figures were sound and it was purely a political decision.  Its history now but it seems like a huge opportunity that was missed.

I know I made a joke of Parker and his 8k capacity, but I would rather more money was initially spent if it meant it was a 1st class facility.  I'm sure it isn't beyond the realms of an architect to design a modular type stadium where the foundation is in place and capacity could be increased at minimal cost should one or both of the teams require it. Look at what they did and are repeating at Anfield where they basically build around and above the existing stand. I know its a completely different budget, but the principle where a new stand is extended with a bolt on design must be relatively easy to work out.

Christ you keep making reference to the Reds crowds but don’t mention ours.

when was the last time Town averaged anywhere near 5k ?

Certainly not since the late 50’s

Towns average has been around the 1000 mark give or take a couple of hundred for the last 20 years!

We were averaging less than 1700 when we were in Super League.

the successful seasons of the Walsh years of the early 90s averaged just over 3,000.

Ambition is one thing but Town or Reds will always struggle to get a season average over 3,000 for a successful side as we don’t have the population

Stop using logic in your argument 🤣

It has to be 8k, so go big or Parker will take his ball yam.

Could we not use the money that has been made available for the new stadium and still make it a joint stadium because surely it will reduce the cost off a new stadium when we already have the grounds etc and there's plenty off space to extend the bar area etc

What and you expect the reds to go with that? They are accessing a lot of funding through the FA. DP is way past its sell by date, it's just not realistic.

Workington cricket club has a nice function room with outdoor space looking out onto the river... just saying

Hmmm yeah OK, I think you are pushing it a bit there. It is small with a push to be called a function room, more of a lounge. It is "nice" but nothing more, and I would doubt if you can see water from the club house. Just replying......

  6. We will just have to wait and see what transpires. If it is led by both clubs rather than ABC then they will make sure that they can make money out of it or it's pointless going ahead.

My only fear is that its done on the cheap and we end up with an ugly bus shelter, that is just barely fit for purpose and can't generate its own income. There's a huge opportunity to incorporate 1st class facilities that the town doesn't have, like a nice function room with outdoor space overlooking the river that could be booked out every weekend. Let's face it the trades hall, station Rd, the legion etc are all the same sort of thing.

Fingers crossed both clubs strive for something a bit special instead of making do. 🤞
