George Griffin ready to cement permanent position in Salford pack

Salford’s George Griffin is ready to put a frustrating start to the season behind him and nail down a spot in the Red Devils side.

The forward made just his fourth appearance of the season in last week’s win over Wakefield, having spent the majority of the year out of favour.

But he put in a man of the match performance against Trinity last week, and is hopeful he’s done enough to ensure he gets an extended spell on the pitch rather than one on the terraces.

“I’ve not been making the team a lot this year,” he said.

“I’ve just knuckled down and got myself right here and away from training to make sure I’m ready when I got the call-up. That happened, I did alright and I’m happy.

“I want to play every week but if the boys are performing I’m not going to get in. Hopefully I can nail down my spot now.

“I’ve kept in contact with Watto throughout the season and he’s kept telling me how close I’ve been to playing. It was going to come down to when the chance came. It came through injuries but I think I’ve put my hand up high enough to get another go against Saints.”
