Gill commits to Castleford

The centre is rejoining Castleford Tigers after a spell at Salford Red Devils, after he was released from the scholarship scheme at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle in 2012.

Gill returned to Lock Lane at the age of 16 after his release, but after finding his best form and earning a Yorkshire BARLA call up, Salford picked him up on a professional deal.

The 19-year-old was always desperate to return to the Tigers though, and he will go straight into full-time training with the first team.

“I have watched Castleford all my life,” said Gill. “As a kid it was my ambition to play for the first team.

“Getting this opportunity here is amazing, and I will grab it with both hands and push myself to give my all to break into the first team.”

Head of Youth Riding said: “It is great for the club to get a Castleford lad back at the Tigers. Kieran is a skilful player with a mature head on young shoulders, who I am delighted to give this opportunity to.

“Kieran will continue playing for the under 19s until the season finishes in September but his transition into the first team environment will start immediately I have no dought that training on a daily basis alongside some top players will help his development.

“Kieran has all the attributes needed to be a big success in the game, and I am looking forward to seeing him develop over the coming months and years.”
