GOSSIP: Soward coy on St Helens links

Penrith Panthers halfback Jamie Soward hasn’t ruled out a move to St Helens, although he has pledged his allegiance to his current club for now.

Reports in Australia have linked the former London Broncos star with a move to the Saints for next season, even though he is under contract until the end of 2017.

The 31-year-old has been widely rumoured to leave the NRL side, with reports last year suggesting he had been told to find another club.

He knocked back those suggestions at the end of last year, however he wasn’t as assertive when addressing the most recent rumours last night.

He tweeted: “As for the @StHelensRLFC rumours they are a great club with a lot of history. I’m fully committed to finishing with@PenrithPanthers in 2017″.

Soward briefly played for London in 2013 after a fall out with previous club St George Illawarra Dragons, who refused to release him to join Penrith, so he instead ended the year at London.
