Halifax confirm charity game for Jones fund

Halifax have confirmed that they will host a charity game later this year, with all funds raised to be ploughed into the ever-growing Danny Jones fund.

Jones was from Halifax and spent a brief period of his career with the West Yorkshire club in between spells at Keighley Cougars, the team he was playing for when he tragically passed away on May 3.

And Fax have said that a Halifax XIII will take on a “World Celebrity” XIII in October to help raise money to support Jones’ young family.

They said on their website: “Halifax RLFC are pleased to announce a charity fixture to be held this October, in aid of The Danny Jones fund.

“Current and previous Halifax RLFC players will form a select 13 side, including those who played with Danny Jones. Players from all around the Rugby League world will form the World Celebrity select 13. All the proceeds will go directly to the Danny Jones fund, to support his family in this difficult time.

“The game is to be held on Sunday 11th October, 2015. More details will be announced as the event draws closer.”
