GOOLE VIKINGS forward Harry Aldous is edging ever closer to making his debut for the club following a long-standing Achilles tendon injury which has left him out of action for more than a year.
The 28-year-old joined Scott Taylor’s squad for their debut season, but has been forced to watch while his brother Jack has had a major impact – including putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the narrow defeat to Midlands Hurricanes.
While the 1895 Cup first-round clash with Barrow came a week to soon for Harry, he is expected to be available against Dewsbury at home on Sunday.
“It will be a great day when I finally get out there,” he said. “The club have been so supportive since I signed so I can’t wait to repay the favour, help pick up some wins, and show everyone why they brought me here.
“It’s tough watching on, especially when my brother is out there every week.
“It’s been a long process, but I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped me get to this point. For them to have faith in me and to stand by me speaks volumes.
“They’ve given me another shot at playing, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Just being back training has been amazing – I’m finally able to contribute to the team again, and I can’t wait to make an impact on the pitch.”
One player who did make his debut against Barrow was former England Academy international winger Neil Tchamambe.
The 20-year-old initially joined Wakefield on loan from Hull KR ahead of this season, but will now spend it with the Vikings on a similar basis.
