The USA have successfully overturned the one-match suspension of 21-year-old Haveatama Luani for a ‘Grade A’ throw on Scotland’s Peter Wallace in their World Cup clash last week.
Tomahawks coach Terry Matterson (pictured) cleverly demonstrated that Luani played a backseat role in a three-man tackle on Wallace in the 78th minute.
The 21-year-old is now clear to face Australia in the second quarter-final at Wrexham this Saturday.
Scotland’s Dale Ferguson and Fiji’s Korbin Sims weren’t so fortunate.
The pairing were handed separate two-match bans for dangerous play and were unsuccessful in their appeal.
Both players will have played their last RLWC2013 match unless their teams defy all odds and reach the final.
If that doesn’t happen, they will miss their next club match.
