Haven land hometown boy Riley

Whitehaven have completed their biggest signing of the off-season by recruiting forward Glenn Riley from London Broncos.

Riley, 23, made 10 appearances for London last year after joining the Broncos from Warrington.

Interest is thought to have been high for Riley’s services, however he has opted for a return to Cumbria despite reported interest from Super League sides, particularly Huddersfield Giants.

As reported in this week’s League Express, James Coyle expressed his excitement in securing Riley for next year.

“He comes in from a Super League background, and a good system in Warrington.” he said.

“He should bring good habits into an improving culture at the club.

“He’s a big lad, but that wasn’t really the focus. We wanted the right people and Glenn is certainly that.

“He’s also one of the higher-profile local players and getting him into the squad should be good for helping us to pull more local players in.”
