Halifax announce trio of big pre-season friendlies

Halifax are the latest club to reveal their pre-season schedule, confirming that they will have three pre-season friendlies in preparation for the 2016 Kingstone Press Championship season.

Richard Marshall’s men will host Huddersfield Giants at home on Sunday 10th January (3pm kick off) in a rematch of last season’s Infirmary Cup game. Paul Anderson’s side won 38-6 last season with Ross Divorty scoring the only try for the home side during that game.

A week later ‘Fax will face another Super League side when they travel to the Select Security Stadium to face Widnes Vikings. The match will be played on Sunday 17th January (3pm kick off).

Marshall’s men will then travel across West Yorkshire to face Keighley Cougars on Wednesday 20th January (7:45pm kick off) in their final game before the Championship season begins in February.

Head coach Marshall said on the friendlies: “We wanted to play Super League clubs in pre-season. We have good relationships with both Huddersfield and Widnes and I’m sure they will provide us with a good test ahead of the season.

“Keighley approached us to play a pre-season friendly and after the year that both clubs have had, we thought it would be a fitting tribute for both clubs to play against each other. An evening game provides us with plenty of time before the start of the season.”
