Hunslet Hawks have completed the double signing of Luke Stenchion from York City Knights and Mathew Cook from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Stenchion is a 27 year old front row forward who has years of experience at Championship level having played with Dewsbury Rams, Batley Bulldogs, Oldham Roughyeds & York City Knights.
Cook is a 19 year old centre who joins the club from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams said, “Luke will be a good addition to our forward pack for 2014, although not the biggest in stature, he does all the little things right and has experience of playing at Championship 1 level with Oldham Roughyeds where he probably played his best rugby, he will create competition in the front row and gives us some good options. He knows alot of the boys already at the club and should fit in really well.”
On Cook Williams added, “We have seen some footage of Matt in action and Stuart Dickens recommended him to the club, he possesses a good step and fend and looks strong defensively, he wanted an opportunity to progress his career and were happy to provide him with the platform.”
Williams also revealed that half back Danny Ansell has extended his contract for a further 12 months keeping him at the club for 2014.
