Hinchcliffe desperate to secure victory

Huddersfield captain Ryan Hinchcliffe has highlighted the importance of getting their Qualifiers campaign up and running against Featherstone at the weekend.

The Giants, who finished bottom of Super League in the regular season, start a run of four games against Championship clubs with the visit of Jon Sharp’s Rovers.

With both teams chasing the leading pack following opening round victories, the former Melbourne Storm hooker believes it is vital that they kickstart their campaign.

“It’s very important we get things back on track against Featherstone Rovers. We don’t have time to lick our wounds much, we had a very disappointing start to the Qualifiers campaign and we didn’t turn up with the right attitude or the right concentration levels to play in these games so for us it is a real lesson learnt and we need to make sure we fix things up today.

“All games are tough games, Featherstone are in the position they are because they have played well this year and I don’t know a lot about them but it has got to be about us, we respect Featherstone and what they have done but for us it is about concentrating on ourselves and getting ourselves right, we haven’t played to our potential for a long time and we can’t keep saying that we have got to start doing it.”

Hinchcliffe believes that attitude will be a key factor in their upcoming run of games, which will ultimately decide their future.

“It’s always a challenge whether you are playing in the Super League or these games present more of a challenge so we have got to make sure we turn up with the right attitude and play the right game of footy otherwise we are going to find ourselves in a fight and we need to make sure we put in the right performance this week.”
