Hohaia says Flower incident is “put to bed”

St Helens star Lance Hohaia insists he has put the shocking events of the 2014 Super League Grand Final behind him – and says the incident involving himself and Ben Flower has been “put to bed”.

Hohaia featured for less than two minutes in the Old Trafford showpiece after being punched by Ben Flower, but he quickly told the media afterwards that he had put the incident behind him.

And he stands by that viewpoint now with the new season approaching – whilst also saying he was disappointed with how the Grand Final panned out for him on a personal level.

“I spoke to the media afterwards and said once I walked off the field that was the end of the incident for me. I put it to bed then and I don’t see any reason to discuss it further,” Hohaia told the Saints’ official website.

“I was disappointed with what occurred in the Grand Final. It was a big game and we’d had a tough year. It was a chance for me to step up, lead the team around the pitch and to be the half we needed.

“I was disappointed I didn’t get to play a bigger role but we got the trophy in the end so I was pretty happy about that.”
