Hood and Menzies released by Salford

Salford Red Devils have confirmed the release of hooker Liam Hood and prop Luke Menzies via mutual agreement.

Hood has been granted a release by the club to progress his playing career in Australia and will join Burdekin Roosters in Queensland.

He joined the Red Devils ahead of the 2015 season from Championship side Hunslet Hawks after coming through the ranks at Leeds Rhinos.

Hood made 22 appearances for the Red Devils this year and put in some great performances on the field.

Meanwhile, Menzies has also been released after joining from Swinton Lions at the start of the 2015 season – and Salford say that Menzies is considering several options in terms of his future.

Salford coach Ian Watson said: “Both Liam and Luke are still young and have huge potential. Liam has a fantastic opportunity in Australia and the club wishes him well. We’d like to thank both players for all their efforts whilst with the Red Devils and wish them all the best for the future.”
