Huby ruled out of start of 2016 season

Huddersfield Giants have suffered a huge injury blow before the start of the 2016 Super League season with the news that Craig Huby will miss the opening month of the new campaign.

Huby has picked up a broken wrist which will ensure he misses the first four to six weeks of the new season, but Giants boss Paul Anderson remained philosophical about the gap Huby will leave in their pack.

“Craig’s is a 12-week injury, which means he could miss the first four to six weeks of the season with it,” said Anderson.

“He suffered the injury in training before Christmas, and even though the surgery has been done the extent of the damage means we’re going to have to be patient. We’re gutted for him.

“But one player’s misfortune can be another player’s gain, so I’ll be looking for the others around him to step up.

“We’ve got some very talented forwards in the squad , and it’s up to them to make sure we feel the early-season loss of Craig as little as possible.”
