Huddersfield picked up their second win over Wakefield in the space of ten days as they saw off a comeback to win 25-22.
The Giants had stormed into a comfortable 18-0 lead through tries from Aaron Murphy, Adam O’Brien and Jake Mamo.
Although Matty Ashurst responded for Wakefield before the break, Danny Brough’s drop goal gave the Giants a 19-6 half-time lead.
But Wakefield continued to eat away at the lead mounted as Ben Jones-Bishop scored the first of his two tries, and although Darnell McIntosh bagged a score to again put the Giants in control, Wakefield tries through Jones-Bishop and Reece Lyne gave them hope.
However, Huddersfield held on, with Liam Finn missing the opportunity to give Trinity one play on the Huddersfield line as he missed touch with a penalty.
