Huddersfield Giants have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of Thursday’s clash against Warrington Wolves, after it was revealed that both Brett Ferres and Joe Wardle will miss the match.
Ferres picked up a dead leg two weeks ago which he is yet to overcome, whilst Joe Wardle has been left out due to a hamstring injury suffered in training. Boss Paul Anderson confirmed on Wednesday the duo will miss out, but did insist the players coming in will be more than up to the job.
“Brett Ferres and Joe Wardle will miss out and will be replaced by Jacob Fairbank and Jake Connor,” Anderson said.
“Ferres suffered a dead leg against Widnes, which has only just stopped bleeding at the weekend so it has been pretty nasty for him and Wardle felt a tightening of his hamstring in training on Monday so we are just taking precaution with him. If the game was Saturday or Sunday they would probably have been available.
“The positive is that someone else comes into the squad and gets to have a go. Leroy Cudjoe will come back in and go onto the right and Murphy and Jodie Broughton will stay on the left.
“We have lost two good players but we have good players taking their places.”
