Hull FC prop Paea wants to end Rovers’ season

Hull FC prop Mickey Paea insists there’s nothing he’d like more than to end the play-off hopes of former side Hull Kingston Rovers tonight – by inflicting their first derby defeat of 2014.

The Robins have won the two previous meetings this year, and are going in search of an elusive whitewash of victories against their bitter rivals. And Paea – who has played for both sides – wants KR to join FC in having no chance of making the play-offs come 10pm this evening, admitting he wants to end their season in dramatic fashion.

“There’s a lot to play for, but we have a chance to end their season and there’s no better way of doing that than in the derby,” Paea told the Hull Daily Mail.

“It’s important we finish the season on a good note. There’s a few players leaving the club and we want to send them off with a win.

“There’s no more pressure on us and we’re going into this one fresh. We lost the two previous derbies against them earlier in the season, and I don’t want to lose another myself, especially against my former team.

“I’m going to be doing all I can to get this win and hopefully we can put a smile back on our faces and go off with a bang.”
