HUNSLET have parted company with coach Dean Muir in the wake of their 72-6 home defeat by London Broncos.
The Leeds side have struggled to cope with the transition to the Championship since their against-the-odds promotion from League One last season – Muir’s first at the helm.
They came through the play-offs before winning at then-Championship side Swinton to clinch a return to the second tier for the first time since 2015.
Hunslet have lost twelve out of 14 league matches this year and have been bottom of the 13-team table since March.
Muir coached West Bowling in the National Conference League, guiding them to that competition’s top flight, and worked on the staff at Keighley Cougars before succeeding Alan Kilshaw at Hunslet in October 2023.
Hunslet chief executive Neil Hampshire said: “The club would like to place on record our thanks to Dean for all his hard work and dedication while in the role.
“He will forever be etched in the club’s folklore for the way he guided us through the play-offs and into the Championship at the end of last season.
“Unfortunately results so far this year have fallen short of expectations and the club have decided we need to move in a different direction.
“We’d like to wish Dean all the best for the future.”
